Show Notes
Session 223, January 16, 1966: Spices, Ships, and Psychic Teapots
This unscheduled session kicked off around 10 PM when Bill and Peggy Gallagher dropped by for some cosmic conversation.
The Danish Past-Life Squad
The session got cozy fast as the group started digging into some 17th-century history—specifically, the lives Jane and Rob lived in Denmark. It turns out the gang goes way back.
- The Roll Call: In the 1600s, Rob was a guy named Larns Devonsdorf, and his wife back then was Letti Cluse.
- Family Dynamics: Jane wasn't a wife or a spouse in that life; she was actually Rob’s son, Graton.
- Seth’s Role: Seth was hanging out in that era too, going by the name Brons Martzens.
- The Spice Trade: Seth confirmed he was a merchant who dealt in spices, proving that he’s been handling the "flavor" of reality for a long time.
Maritime Vibes: The Brotzanin II
Seth shared some high-seas details about his merchant days, specifically regarding his ship, the Brotzanin II.
- The Vessel: It was a Danish frigate—a warship that Seth bought and converted into a merchantman around 1631-32.
- Arming Up: While Bill Gallagher was skeptical about merchants using warships, Seth pointed out that everyone had to be strapped back then to fend off pirates.
- The Commute: Seth wasn't much of a sailor—he preferred keeping his "feet on dry land"—but he knew his routes. The ship would travel 22 days to the first port (likely the Azores), then 42 more days to the next, and finally 62 days to the destination to pick up nutmeg and cloves.
- Scurvy Prevention: Long before the English got the memo, Seth’s crew was using lemons. They grated the skins, drank the juice, and even used the skins as poultices for sores.
- The Quote: Seth noted the specific cargo: "Nutmeg from one shore, cloves from another."
The Psychic "Oopsie" and the Teapot
The session touched on some psychic testing the group was doing with the Gallaghers. This part is great because Seth actually owns up to a bit of a "bad connection" in his transmissions.
- The Object: The Gallaghers were focusing on a miniature teapot in their home.
- The Impression: Seth had previously described the object as a speckled, gray rock or stone with an indentation.
- The Correction: While he got the "water connection" and the "indentation" (the teapot opening) right, he admitted the "rock" description was his own error.
- Seth’s Take: He told Rob: "I was not careful enough in sorting out my own impressions." He admitted that Jane (Ruburt) had actually transmitted what he gave her accurately; the mix-up was on his end of the cosmic telephone line.
Career Coaching and New York Dreams
Once the guests left, Seth gave Rob and Jane some solid career advice and a bit of a pep talk regarding their future.
- The Artist: Seth predicted Rob would become a well-known painter, partly because his work is inspired by the visions he gets during these sessions.
- The Agent: Seth dropped a tip about an art agent on 62nd Street in NYC who could help Rob out, noting that Jane knew nothing about these locations.
- The Roadmap: He urged them to hit New York City in the spring to meet with publishers and editors like Don Wollheim, Frederick Fell, and Eileen Garrett.
- The Identity: Seth reminded them that as they keep going, they'll see the evidence pile up that he is exactly what he says he is: an "energy personality essence."
