Show Notes

Session 220, January 5, 1966: Cosmic Staring Contests and Inverted Time

A wild session mixed of "who’s watching whom" and some much-needed cosmic life coaching from our favorite non-physical teacher, Seth.

The Vision: A High-Stakes Staring Contest

Before the session officially kicked off, Rob (referred to by Seth as Joseph) had a bit of a creepy-cool experience while drifting off to sleep. He found himself inches away from a pair of luminous, golden-brown eyes.

  • The Entity’s Look: Imagine a "throwback to more primitive man"—long black hair and heavy brows—but with eyes that were "limpid," "beautiful," and totally impassive.
  • The Panic Button: Rob did what most of us would do: he freaked out, thrashed around, and accidentally woke up Jane.
  • Seth’s Take: Seth confirmed this wasn't just a dream. It was a "most unusual" point of contact where an inhabitant of another system actually saw Rob back.
  • Key Quote: Seth notes the mutual awkwardness: "The other individual concerned was bewildered, and to some extent frightened, and he withdrew. You were indeed quite willing to strike out physically. It was this emotional reaction that was felt by the other individual."

Interdimensional Ghosting: The Other Guy's Perspective

It turns out Rob was the scary one in this scenario. While Rob saw a hairy face, the other entity saw Rob as a pulsating mass of intense colors and movement.

  • The Focused Ego: This being has a much smaller, more intense focus than we do, but a way larger general field of awareness.
  • Translation Error: Rob’s brain translated the alien data into an "animalistic" form to represent the entity’s "clear, pure and single-minded perception."
  • Psychic Speed-Dating: Seth explains that these contacts happen all the time when we sleep, but we rarely remember them. This one was special because both parties realized someone else was on the line.

Living in the Inverted Time Zone

Seth gives us a glimpse into the entity's home world, and it is definitely not your standard 9-to-5 reality.

  • No Physical Mass: This system exists within our universe but isn't made of physical matter. It’s an "old system" with "brain formations" that aren't materialized.
  • The Time Loop: They use an "inverted time system." Imagine being ten different people in ten different lives, but everyone knows what everyone else is doing at all times.
  • Key Quote: "In this inverted time system individual ten is aware of the experiences of individual two; and individual two is aware of the experiences of individual ten... Individual ten may, so to speak, go back without confusion and enter into any experience undergone by any of the other individuals."

Seth’s Life Coaching: Stop Being a Psychic Buzzkill

The session ends with Seth dropping some heavy truths about how Rob and Jane (Ruburt) handle daily stress. Apparently, a recent "car episode" had them both in a funk, which Seth says is a total waste of creative energy.

  • Ego Time Trap: When you focus on negative disturbances, you effectively put yourself in a "negative trance."
  • Advice for the Wise: Seth tells them to change their habitual reactions. If you focus on the mess, you invite more mess.
  • Key Quote: "If you direct your inner self with confidence to steer you through your physical existence, it will do so. If you concentrate upon difficulties you will not allow it to do so."
