Session 219: The Multidimensional "Moment Point" & Why Your Ego is Basically a Flat Cardboard Cutout

Welcome to the cosmic after-party! We are diving deep into Session 219 of The Early Sessions, Book 5 of the Seth Material, recorded on the night of January 3, 1966. After a long winter break, Jane Roberts (Ruburt) was a bit jittery, but Seth came through with his usual sass and mind-bending wisdom to kick off the new year.

The Vibes: Back from Vacation

  • Seth started the night by roasting Rob and Jane for their lack of enthusiasm, joking, "Perhaps your holidays take more out of you than I do."
  • Jane had been "struggling" through books by an author named Dunne, and Seth was more than ready to show how his own theories on time and selfhood actually worked.
  • The atmosphere was intense but productive—Jane was "speaking fast and with much emphasis," showing that even a long vacation couldn't slow down the Seth energy.

The "Moment Point" & Your Flat Ego

The core of this session is about the "moment point"—what you call the "now." Seth explains that our physical ego is pretty much blind to what’s actually happening:

  • The Cardboard Illusion: To your ego, the present is like a series of lights or flat cardboard objects flashing by. It thinks time is a linear conveyor belt.
  • The Reality Spiral: In truth, every "now" is an opening into other dimensions. Seth describes moment points as "spirals" that other portions of your self can travel through.
  • Identity Over Dimension: You aren't a prisoner of your reality. Seth notes that "any given identity is more than the dimension in which it finds itself." Your limitations are set by the dimension, not your true nature.
  • Dreaming and Intensity: When you sleep, you drop the "flat cardboard" view and travel through "intensities." This is how you can have "precognition" or see the future—you're just taking a different path through the spiral.

The Psychic "Test Drive"

The session included some serious clairvoyant work involving a "test envelope" provided by their friend Lorraine (Marleno).

  • The Hospital Pass: Inside the envelope was a visitor's pass from a hospital. Seth picked up on "a turbulent event, or unpleasantness," "a storm," and the initial "M" (the patient's name was Margaret).
  • Image Retention: Seth explained how Jane sometimes mixes her own mental "files" with his data. He used the image of a "box" to explain how psychic associations work—like a file-card box sticking in the mind from a previous test.
  • Self A vs. The Ego: Seth clarifies that "Self A" (the physical you) is more than just the ego. Because you aren't limited to the ego's perceptions, you can pick up on events outside of your current time and space.

Key Wisdom from the Source

  • "The ego cannot see that this moment point is open, so to speak, and represents an opening into many other dimensions."
  • "The whole self... is composed of all of these selves, but it must be realized that all divisions between these selves are illusions, basically speaking."
  • "Any law of physics that appears to make this supposition incorrect is a law that is an illusion, and that in itself leads to false perceptions."
