Session 217, December 13, 1965: Cosmic Insights, Candle Magic, and Dream Telepathy
A fascinating session mixed of practical life advice, spooky energy demonstrations, and deep dives into the mechanics of the dreaming mind.
The Financial Forecast and the Reading List
Seth kicks things off by addressing the "real world" concerns of Jane Roberts and her husband. Apparently, the universe had some good news for their bank accounts, and Seth wasn't shy about sharing the "vibes" regarding their future prosperity.
- Seth predicts a major shift in their financial situation, stating: "Ruburt’s book will do very well... your immediate financial worries will definitely be over within a two-year period... You will be quite comfortably situated."
- He specifically recommends they purchase Harold Sherman’s book on ESP, noting that the author’s abilities are well-developed and contain "good hints" for their own growth.
- Seth encourages Rob to bring a sketch pad to social gatherings, suggesting that as an artist, he can pick up "intuitional data" on people’s personalities that will translate into better paintings. It’s basically professional eavesdropping, but for art.
The Psychic Power of a Good Party
If you ever needed an excuse to go to a holiday party, Seth provides a pretty wild one. He suggests that social interactions are way more than just small talk and cheap snacks; they are actually "psychic benefits" in disguise.
- The session discusses a friend named Mark (Bill Macdonnel) who telepathically picked up on Rob and Jane's attitudes during a previous outing, leading him to change his personal plans.
- Seth highlights the importance of social interaction: "The interactions are so swift that they cannot be physically measured, and the sort of parties that you are planning are of great psychic benefit from a variety of standpoints."
- He notes that interacting with different personalities "stretches" one’s sympathies and understanding, which is a fancy way of saying that even hanging out with annoying people might be good for your soul.
Dream Telepathy and Family Dramas
One of the coolest parts of this session is the breakdown of how we communicate while we're asleep. Seth explains that we are basically having full-blown telepathic meetings in the dream state that dictate how we act when we wake up.
- Seth reveals that Rob’s younger brother, Bill, uncharacteristically stood his ground against their parents regarding a new TV set because of a telepathic chat he had with Rob in a dream.
- He explains the mechanics of dream communication: "The telepathic message picked up in dreams under such circumstances will of course be interpreted by the dreaming self in its own way, symbolically, so that the dream actions may not appear to be the same."
- Essentially, if you dream about someone, there’s a high chance they are dreaming about you too, but they probably aren't "trained" enough to remember the meeting.
Reincarnation: Who’s Staying and Who’s Going
Seth drops some heavy knowledge on the family’s future (and past) lives. It turns out some people are "one and done" with Earth, while others are coming back for a sequel.
- Seth interprets a dream where Rob saw his brother in a "fetus position," explaining: "He will be born again within the physical universe, and you will not. You averted the barrier... He did not."
- He reveals that Jane and Rob won't be returning to the physical plane, which explains their lack of children in this life—they’ve already "been there, done that" with the whole parenting thing in past lives.
