Session 208: Reality’s Yardstick and the Aging Hack

Welcome back to the session, everyone! Grab a drink, kick back, and let’s get into some seriously "chilling" metaphysical insights. We are diving deep into Session 208 of The Early Sessions Book 5 of the Seth Material, recorded on November 15, 1965.

This session is a wild ride where Seth—the "energy personality essence" speaking through Jane Roberts—breaks down why your alarm clock is a lie and why you might want to spend more time napping if you want to stay young.

The Ultimate Reality Yardstick: Primary vs. Secondary

Seth decides to give us a "yardstick" to measure what is actually real versus what is just a temporary stage prop in our physical lives.

  • Primary Realities: These are the big deals. They run through all systems and conditions of consciousness. If you can’t escape it—whether you’re awake, dreaming, or in a trance—it’s a "Primary Condition."
  • Secondary Realities: These are things we’ve created on mental terms for our physical system. They feel real because we think they are, but they don't follow us everywhere.
  • The Gravity Test: If you’ve ever flown in a dream, congrats—you’ve proven gravity is just a secondary condition.
  • The Inner Self: Our inner identity operates on primaries. While the outer ego is busy worrying about the "secondary" props of the physical world, the inner ego is handling the real, fundamental stuff.

As Seth puts it:

"If ever in a dream experience you defy gravity, then gravity is not a primary reality, but only a manifestation within your own physical system. If clock time is escaped within the dream state, then clock time is not a primary."

The Fountain of Youth (The Sleeping State)

Here is a "mind-blowing" tip from Seth: Aging is a secondary condition. If it were primary, it would happen at a constant rate regardless of your state of mind.

  • The Sleep Factor: Seth reveals that the physical organism doesn’t age at the same rate when you’re asleep compared to when you’re awake.
  • Belief as Biology: Your thoughts are "definite electromagnetic realities." If you believe you are a prisoner of "clock time" and aging, your cells will actually react to that belief with "vengeful force."
  • Independence: Realizing you are more than just a physical organism allows you to minimize the effects of these secondary conditions.

The "Psychic Spy" Moment: Dr. Instream

Toward the end of the session, Seth shifts gears into a psychic test involving a Dr. Instream. It gets pretty specific and a little spooky!

  • The Secret Meeting: Seth picks up on Dr. Instream being in an office with two men—one dark-haired with glasses and one light-haired.
  • Off-the-Books Talk: They are discussing a matter that isn't officially known by the university they are connected to.
  • The Mysterious Woman: Seth mentions a woman in the background associated with "yellow or gold."
  • Odd Details: Seth notes Dr. Instream had a drink of liquor he wouldn't usually choose and mentions someone being late with business papers or a lease.
