Show Notes

Session 202, October 27, 1965: Your Astral Pajamas and Psychic Side-Hustles

The Unseen You: Astral Bodies 101

Seth decided it was time to talk about the "astral body," which sounds spooky but is basically just your non-physical, electromagnetic "unseen self." Here’s the lowdown on your invisible roommates:

  • The Astral Suit: Your astral body is made of electromagnetic components and functions like a "tissue capsule." It’s the part of you that keeps your memories and survives the big sleep (physical death).
  • Experience Isn't Physical: Even though we’re stuck in this physical playground, Seth reminds us that experience itself isn't made of matter. Your astral identity holds all that data in "codified units."
  • The Night Shift: When you’re catching Z’s, your astral self is out wandering. It’s got telepathic and clairvoyant skills that your waking ego usually ignores.
  • Waking Projections: Surprise! You’re actually projecting even when you’re awake, but your ego is usually too busy looking for its keys to notice.

The Inner Ego: The Boss Behind the Curtain

Seth introduces the "Inner Ego" as the director of this astral identity. It’s the bridge between the purely psychic reality of the entity and your physical life.

  • Arbitrary Walls: Seth notes that we only divide the self into "inner" and "outer" for convenience. In reality, it’s all one big, messy, beautiful flow of action.
  • The Dream Factory: Dreams aren't just "concrete blocks" of stories. Every level of your personality creates its own version of a dream, and they all interact. It's like a multi-layered movie where you’re the director, actor, and the guy eating popcorn in the back.

Life Hacks: The Power of Suggestion

Jane had tired eyes during this session, so Seth dropped some ancient-future health advice.

  • Vision Correction: Seth suggested a mantra for vision: "I am relaxed and at ease, and confident. I can see easily and well."
  • Changing the Past: This is the trippy part. Seth claims suggestion can reach parts of the self you didn't even know existed and can actually "change experience which has already passed" by altering your reaction and the event’s original meaning.
  • Cellular Remodeling: You’re forming your body right now with your expectations. Use suggestion well, and you can literally alter your cells.

The "Spooky" Testing Grounds

The session included some wild psychic testing regarding a Dr. Instream and an envelope test involving cards from Bill Macdonnel’s "Cameron Gallery."

  • The Pendulum and the Robe: Seth picked up on Dr. Instream watching something dangle like a pendulum and described him wearing a green robe with gold tassels.
  • Awkward Party Memories: In the envelope test, Seth tapped into a "star shape" and an "unpleasant event" from February. It turns out Jane had a hilariously awkward moment at a gallery opening where she forgot a former employer's name while trying to introduce him. Psychic powers: 1, Social anxiety: 0.

Wise Words from Seth

To give you the true flavor of the evening, here are a few choice quotes from the session:

  • "The basic consciousness is never physical. Yet within your system it must collect experience within the physical system, hence the physical body."
  • "The astral identity is therefore actually a more complete representation of the whole personality, and its abilities are far-reaching."
  • "Suggestion can shape future events because any action changes that which existed before it, and that which shall exist after it within your system."
