Session 197, October 11, 1965: The Electromagnetic Identity
Welcome to the cosmic lounge. Today, we’re diving into the vibes and data of a particularly "electric" evening with our favorite non-physical teacher, Seth. Grab a drink, relax, and let’s look at the "weight" of the soul.
The Scene at the Roberts’ Household
Before the deep stuff started, the atmosphere was a bit tense. Jane Roberts (referred to by Seth as Ruburt) was feeling a bit "off" because her publisher, Frederick Fell, hadn't sent a letter regarding her ESP book. Despite a reassuring phone call, the human side of the operation was feeling the pressure. Seth, being the chill entity he is, stepped in to provide some heavy-duty metaphysical grounding.
Your 6-Ounce Electromagnetic Skeleton
Seth got straight to the point about how we are built. Apparently, we all have an "electromagnetic identity" that lives inside our physical bodies like a hidden framework. Here’s the breakdown of the "real" you:
- Mass vs. Weight: This electromagnetic pattern has mass (denseness) but almost zero weight. Seth notes: "The electromagnetic reality within the human organism has considerable mass, but the entire physical weight amounts to 3 to 6 ounces at the very most."
- Coded Experience: Every single thing you feel or do is recorded as an electrical pulsation. If an experience is emotionally intense, it’s recorded with higher intensity.
- Life After Death: When you "kick the bucket," the physical connection is severed and polarities reverse, but your electromagnetic identity—the sum of your coded experiences—remains totally intact.
- Simultaneous Past Lives: You’re not just you. Your electromagnetic identity contains your past lives, all coded in specific intensity ranges. They exist right now, but your ego usually tunes them out unless there’s a "bleedthrough" or a "freak electrical storm" in your system.
The Ego: The Ultimate Control Freak
Seth dropped some humor while explaining why we don't see the "big picture" all the time. He joked, "You should get a charge out of this material, if you will excuse a poor pun."
- Slow Motion Reality: The ego can’t make decisions as fast as your intuitive self. To compensate, it perceives time in "slow motion," making events look like they happen one after another.
- The Censor: The ego is currently a bit of a gatekeeper. It treats telepathic or clairvoyant info as a threat to its dominance and filters it out.
- Evolutionary Growth: We aren't just bigger-brained versions of our ancestors. We’ve evolved millions of new electrical connections and "gestalts" that have fundamentally changed the human race.
Testing the Vibes: Dr. Instream and the Envelopes
The session included some "ESP tests" that Jane felt were failures, though Rob saw deeper connections.
- Dr. Instream’s Reading: Seth picked up impressions of mud, water, umbrellas, an inkwell, and a "shaggy dog with wet hair." He also noted a "4 o'clock appointment" and a "snag" in hypnosis experiments that would be overcome.
- The Envelope Test: Seth saw the color yellow, an arch shape, and the number 4. While Jane was disappointed, Rob noted the test paper was kept in a room with yellow walls and the "stiffeners" used in the envelope were from an old test involving their dog, Mischa, taken on a hot summer day.
- Procedural Changes: To help Jane stop stressing over her "score," Seth suggested that Rob hand over test envelopes randomly during sessions without telling her the results immediately.
