Show Notes

Session 195, October 4, 1965: Cosmic Vibes and Electromagnetic Walls

Grab a drink, settle in, and let's see what our favorite "energy personality essence" had to say while Jane Roberts was busy being a human telephone.

The Success of Ruburt and the "Tired Old Dove"

The session kicks off with some high-fives all around. Jane (whom Seth calls Ruburt) finally heard back from her publisher, Frederick Fell. He loved her ESP book! Seth, ever the "I told you so" entity, reminds everyone that he’s been predicting this since Session 92.

  • Jane was a bit of a nervous wreck waiting for the news, proving that even psychic superstars get the jitters.
  • Seth’s entrance was particularly smooth this time, greeting their guest, Lorraine Shafer (nicknamed Marleno), with a vibe that was half-mystical teacher and half-sassy friend.
  • To keep things from getting too spooky, Seth dropped this absolute gem of a quote: "I am not frightening now, am I? I am indeed as peaceful as a tired old dove with battered wings, and a beak smoothed down."

Your Emotions Are Literal Power Plants

Seth didn't just come to chat about book deals; he came to drop some heavy science on how our feelings actually function. If you think your "bad vibes" are just a mood, think again. According to Seth, emotions are literal electromagnetic forces.

  • The Emotional Shield: Lorraine was having trouble connecting with the session because she was essentially "desperate" to believe, which triggered her ego to build a massive electromagnetic wall.
  • The Science of Soul: Seth explains that "emotional attitudes, conscious and subconscious, have an electromagnetic reality that operates very efficiently."
  • Open vs. Closed Systems: You’re either an "open system" attracting new experiences or a "closed electric force" that’s basically supercharged and blocking out the world to stay safe.
  • The Ethics of Ghosting: Seth mentions he won't "break" into someone's consciousness if they have these blocks up—he’s got a code of ethics, after all.

Dream Telepathy and Spooky Connections

Ever had a dream that felt like it belonged to someone else? Seth says it probably did.

  • Psychic Spillover: In the dream state, we pick up telepathic data not necessarily because we know the other person, but because we share an emotional resonance with the event.
  • The Dog Bite Example: If Dreamer A dreams about a dog bite, Dreamer B (who also hates dogs) might accidentally "tune in" to that electromagnetic frequency and experience the same dream data.
  • No Difference in Reality: Seth reminds us there is "very little difference indeed, basically, between physical images and dream images, and apparitions, and very little difference between these and thoughts and emotions." It’s all just energy, man.

Psychic Hits: The Dr. Instream and Marleno Files

Before wrapping up, Seth went into "detective mode," giving specific impressions for a Dr. Instream and Lorraine.

  • Dr. Instream’s Vibe: Seth saw him sitting in a bedroom (neater than his office), looking at an oval reflection, possibly practicing self-hypnosis while forgetting his "date" with the session until the last minute.
  • Marleno’s Southern Secrets: Seth picked up impressions of Asheville, NC, from 1944. He nailed the "yellow walls" and "rose decorations" on the furniture, along with a "black mailbox" and a "shadowed porch."
  • The Whiskey Connection: He even picked up on some heavy drinking and arguments from Lorraine’s past, connecting the sound of "breaking glasses" to emotional breakage.
