Session 152: Your Subconscious Is Your New Best Friend

Welcome to the cosmic lounge. Today, we’re diving into Session 152 recorded on May 5, 1965. Grab a drink, kick back, and let’s talk about how Jane Roberts (whom Seth calls Ruburt) basically turned her subconscious into a personal assistant and a high-end painkiller.

The Dentist, the Package, and the "Flower on a Stem"

The session kicks off with some serious "mind over matter" flexing. Jane went to the dentist—usually a painful nightmare of tartar-scraping—and used a light trance to tell her body to chill. Result? No pain, no Novocain, and a very confused dentist.

  • Jane found a lost package by asking her subconscious via a pendulum exactly where she left it. (Spoiler: It was in a dressing room of a store that originally said they didn't have it).
  • Jane also experienced a weird "internal blow" or jolting in her head during a nap, making her head rock like a "flower on a stem." Seth promised to explain that later, but it’s a clear sign things are getting trippy.

Why Your Ego Needs to Stop Micromanaging

Seth’s main point here is that your Ego is a bit of a presumptive little guy. It tries to run the whole show, but it’s actually just one half of a partnership.

  • The Ego and the Subconscious are equal partners in building your personality.
  • If the Ego ignores the Subconscious, the Subconscious will start "nagging" or "exploding" to get attention. This usually manifests as physical illness or minor symptoms.
  • Seth notes: "The personal subconscious and the ego are indeed equal partners in the formation of any given present personality. Ruburt’s results are evidence that his training is bearing fruit."
  • Communication between the two should be a "permissive ‘I can’ approach" rather than a "commanding ‘I will’ approach."

The Ultimate Lifestyle Hack: The Pendulum

Seth gets hilarious and practical here. He suggests using a pendulum not just for deep psychic truths, but for your shopping list.

  • Fashion Police: Use a pendulum over clothes to see how your subconscious reacts to colors and fabrics (especially wool and cotton).
  • Dietary Guidance: Hold it over food to see if you’re allergic.
  • Vibe Checks: Seth says: "Believe it or not, the personal subconscious is extremely sensitive to color, and to certain vibrations given off by color and by fabrics."
  • Timing: Use it to find out what times of the month you’re most active or psychically "open."

Seth’s "Commute" to Reality

Ever wonder how a "personality essence no longer focused in physical reality" actually gets into the room? Seth explains his travel route through Jane’s mind.

  • Seth isn't "traveling like a man on horseback through foreign territory." It’s a change of focus.
  • He enters through the "third undifferentiated layer" of Jane's subconscious.
  • Jane (Ruburt) and Robert (Joseph) actually help. Their psychic energies allow the environment to enlarge enough for Seth to pop in.

The Importance of Being Joyful (Seriously)

Seth argues that the capacity to feel is vital. If you’re too scared of "unpleasant" emotions, you accidentally kill your ability to feel joy.

  • "Joy and the spontaneous expression of it will always bring increased strength and resiliency to the personality."
  • The intellect should "stand guard," but it shouldn't stop you from being immersed in emotional sensation. This energy is the fuel for creative work.
