Cosmic Identity Crisis: Insights from Session 142
Grab a snack and get comfortable, because we’re diving into some deep-space wisdom from Session 142 of The Early Sessions, Book 3 of the Seth Material, recorded on March 22, 1965. Even though Jane and Rob were both feeling a bit under the weather (Rob was literally sneezing his head off), Seth decided to drop some knowledge about what "you" actually are.
Credit where it’s due: This wisdom comes from the Seth Material and the folks at New Awareness Network.
The Self: No Fences, No Boundaries
Seth starts off by basically telling us that if you’re looking for a "box" to put your soul in, you’re going to be disappointed. The self isn’t a "thing"; it’s more like a movie that never stops playing.
- The Boundless Self: There are no walls around you. This lack of boundaries is actually a good thing because it means you have infinite room to grow.
- Action is the Secret Sauce: Seth defines the self as "action." Since action is always changing, you’re never the same person you were five seconds ago.
- The Time-Traveler You: You aren’t just the person sitting there. You are a collection of "past" selves, "future" selves, and a whole bunch of simultaneous "perception experiences" that your ego hasn't even heard of yet.
- The Entity Blueprint: Seth defines the "entity" as the total sum of all your various selves across all ranges of action. It's the "simultaneous totality" that’s always pushing for more expansion.
The Ego: A High-Maintenance Roommate
Seth gets a little sassy about our egos, comparing them to old-school nationalism. It’s useful for a while, but eventually, it just gets in the way of the party.
- Nationalism vs. Globalism: Just like nations are starting to realize they need to work together, our egos need to realize they aren’t the only "self" in the building.
- Ego Anxiety: The ego is terrified of losing its "privacy" or "safety," so it builds imaginary fences. Seth basically says, "Relax, the self is way bigger than the ego anyway."
- The Inner Self Relay: Think of your inner self as the nucleus or a relay station. It’s the original spark that sent out all these different "you-s" in every direction.
Spooky Vibes and Windy Sails
The session ended with some pretty wild physical sensations for Jane (Ruburt). She felt a massive rush of energy, describing it as being "swept along... like a sail filled with wind."
- The Father Trainor Energy: Jane felt a similar vibe to an earlier episode where she channeled a massive male voice. This time, it was all around her, but she felt totally supported, like she was flying without leaving her chair.
- Seth's Training Wheels: Seth is apparently keeping a close eye on Jane’s development, making sure she doesn’t "advance too fast" and accidentally blow a cosmic fuse.
Straight from the Source
Seth really put it best when he said:
"The self at any given moment is not the self that it was, yet it is that which it was, since it is that which changed. It acts upon itself, being action."
He also reminded us that we’re bigger than we think:
"Your concept of consciousness is fearful and limiting, and depends for its existence upon ignorance and barriers, barriers that divide parts of the self from others."
