095 Time Is Simultaneous and Dreams Persist

Briefing Doc: No Beginnings, No Ends, Just Endless Cosmic Shenanigans

Alright folks, settle in and get weird. We're diving into Session 95 of The Early Sessions, Book 3 from the legendary Seth Material, recorded way back on October 7, 1964. Prepare for your concept of time to get bent completely out of shape.

The Illusion of Start and Stop

Seth kicks things off by basically telling us our whole idea of "beginnings" and "endings" is a hilarious misunderstanding, a distortion created by our limited physical senses. The actual reality is a "spacious present" where everything is happening at once. Energy, which is what we're all made of, can't be deleted, only remixed. As Seth puts it, "Since energy cannot be withdrawn but only change its form, then there can be no ending..."

This applies perfectly to dreams. You don't create a dream from scratch each night; you simply become aware of it. The dream itself is part of a durable, independent reality that has existed for ages, stretching back into past lives. "A dream does not then begin and end, only your awareness of a dream begins and ends." The same goes for you. The person you will be in the future isn't a vague possibility—that person exists right now, in actuality. You're just not consciously aware of them yet.

The Universe's Main Drive: The Compulsion to Be

So where did all this… stuff… come from? Seth explains that the universe springs from a vital, intelligent energy, a "psychic gestalt" that you can call God if you like. This infinite energy has one prime directive, one core characteristic that's terrifyingly simple: "the compulsion to be." That’s it. The universe exists because it is pathologically incapable of not existing. This singular driving force is the primary law from which all creation and "value fulfillment" flows.

Free Will: No Strings Attached

Now for the big one: are we in charge? Seth is crystal clear: you are not a puppet. Your greater "entity" self projects your current "personality" into this physical plane, equips you with the necessary tools for survival, and then takes its hands completely off the wheel. The entity has superior knowledge and may know what choices you will make, but it is forbidden from interfering. "The entity may not either aid or prevent any choice that the personality may make."

Why? Because you, the personality on the ground, are the expert in this specific reality. Your free will is absolute, with one tiny catch: the built-in necessity for value fulfillment. You must gain experience on this plane. You can’t just opt out of existing here once you've arrived. Other than that, the choices are entirely yours.
