This unscheduled session was initiated by Jane Roberts and Robert Butts (referred to as Ruburt and Joseph by Seth) to seek clarification on "startling phenomena" that occurred during the previous night's session.
Analysis of Recent Phenomena
Seth begins the session by addressing the previous night's events, which he humorously calls his "fireworks." The session had involved Jane, Rob, and a friend, and resulted in a consciously requested materialization.
A key event was the manifestation of another entity's face in Jane's reflection in a mirror. Seth explains that this being was not from their plane of existence and had never been an "earthling." He clarifies the nature of its appearance:
"Lines of communication were open and the entity merely slipped through, or partially through, momentarily. Even the shape of the features, never clearly glimpsed, were space distortions necessary to come through on this plane at all. As a stick thrown into the water seems distorted to those who watch, so this image thrown into your plane seemed distorted to you. But the distortions were what gave it any features at all. Without them, the distortions that is, you would have seen nothing."
