Steve Giddings teaches 1-6 Music in Montague, Prince Edward Island where he leads two rock groups, multiple singing groups, and is musical director for various productions at the school. Musically, his experience is very diverse. He is classically trained but has performed in a plethora of styles and has even recorded two full-length studio albums with his ska-alternative rock band, The Sidewalks. He has experience playing and performing in professional symphony orchestras on trombone and percussion, in jazz bands as lead trombone, and in rock bands on trombone and drums. Aside from music, he is also passionate about giving advice to other music teachers through workshops and his writing. He is a regular columnist in the Canadian Music Educator Journal where he writes on topics including popular music education and creativity, is author of the award-winning book, Rock Coach: A Practical Guide for Teaching Rock Bands in Schools, and his long-awaited second book, Creative Musicking, is set to be released in 2019.
