Pamela Askew - What is the Role of an Educational Consultant?

PAMELA ASKEW, a retired principal spent 30 years educating the children of Detroit and motivating and inspiring teachers to work hard and learn a lot. She started her career as a middle school English teacher.  She also taught ballet.  Pamela quickly rose to the ranks of administrator leading the following departments: English, Social Studies, and Special Education. She became a principal in 2006 and was principal of a middle school, an elementary school, and the only PK-12th grade all-girl public school international academy in Michigan. In her role as principal, Pamela turned around four schools for Detroit Public Schools.

PAMELA ASKEW is a graduate of Marygrove College earning two Master’s Degrees.She received National Certification as a Principal’s Coach and Mentor in 2014.  In 2020, she received national certification with the Center for Teacher Effectiveness as a trainer. Pamela has authored and published education websites, nine eBooks, one non-fiction book, and one fiction book. She has conducted webinars on how to turn around struggling schools and how to build the capacity of others. 

Pamela studied the leadership practices of top leaders of Fortune Five Hundred companies at the National Principal’s Leadership Institute in New York and she is the author of Checkmate: How Power and Greed Destroyed Detroit Public Schools.  Pamela is also the CEO and Founder of Education Impact Services that provides customized professional development.

Pamela spends her spare time with her family attends weekly Zumba classes and loves to travel.
