Today we will be talking about navigating grief in context of the gospel and from the perspective of an adoptive parent. GUESTLane Jackson is an adoptive mom at Lifeline. Melinda Nell, MSW, is a domestic specialist at Lifeline. The Jackson family has experienced several matches and placements not working out before the placement of their daughter. Before that, they experienced grief in the infertility journey. They were also one of Lifeline's longest waiting families when they accepted placement – they were in process for several years and were so open-handed, ready to say yes to every case they saw and ready for what the Lord had for them. Melinda Nell was their caseworker for 4-5 months of their entire 2+ year adoption process. International Women's Day - Our Global Partners

In honor of International Women's Day, two of our global partners join the podcast to talk about the difference God is making through the work they have done and the work they continue to do in orphan care in India. Tara and Sitara Manogarom join the podcast to talk about their home in India for orphaned girls and how God has worked through this ministry since 2007. GUESTLifeline's (un)adopted ministry partners with a ministry in India. This ministry runs a home for orphaned girls. A husband and wife opened the Home in 2007 with three girls. Now they provide a home for 17+ girls. The husband lost his battle to COVID in 2020, yet his wife and children continue his legacy of caring for the girls and sharing the hope of Jesus. Tara is the wife who helped start this home and Sitara is her daughter. They both help run the home where the girls are thriving. International Adoption Update

GUESTSKarla Thrasher, Director of International Adoption, is a graduate of the University of Alabama at Birmingham and a licensed social worker. She is also a TBRI® Practitioner, certified by the TCU Karen Purvis Institute of Child Development. Karla has been on staff at Lifeline since 2001 and currently serves as the Director of International Adoption. In her role, Karla is privileged to manage the day to day of Lifeline’s International Department and provide leadership to the international team. She coordinates with other Lifeline departments and outside ministry partners to better serve waiting for children and families. Some of the specific focuses in Karla’s role at Lifeline are government compliance, customer service, and quality assurance. She considers it a great honor to share the gospel through the gift of adoption! Karla lives in Birmingham, AL with her husband Jamie. They have three adult children. Karla’s family are the biggest cheerleaders in her ministry at Lifeline.Jana Lombardo, Senior Program Director of International Programs, has been with Lifeline since 1992 after she graduated from Auburn with a bachelor’s degree in social work. She worked for six and a half years as a domestic social worker/ birthmother counselor until the birth of her first son Eli. She became a TBRI Practitioner in 2017. Jana and her husband, Luke, are also proud parents of another son, Gideon.
