Fred Southwick of the University of Florida College of Medicine and Bill Lang, an expert in public health responses to biological incidents, including pandemics. Both doctors agree that the new covid variant, Omicron, is so viral that three vaccine shots are necessary. Some data does show that Omicron, while very contagious, may not affect the lungs as severely as the Delta variant, or the original strain. But our experts say it is too early to count on that data.
