The Daytripper Podcast | Talkin' Texas

April brings us tails of meteors, big ones, hitting the Houston area, the explanation for pink bluebonnets, and the Battle of San Jacinto.

Two Step Inn is an annual country music festival held in San Gabriel Park in Georgetown, Texas (north of Austin), dubbed the world's largest outdoor honky-tonk. The 2026 festival, held April 18-19, features stars like Chris Stapleton and Brooks & Dunn, featuring over 30 artists across three stages.

This month we reminisce about the wonderful experience we had in Elgin, the Sausage Capital of Texas, especially at Southside, where they have an old school sauce that takes Daniel back to his youth. We also discuss the new state park, Palo Pinto Canyon, and realize that there are a lot of ways a rattlesnake can bite you.

Our February episode of Talkin' Texas features a conversation about whether or not putting squeeze butter on salsa is a good idea, introduce our new sponsor Karbach Lager, and we discuss the next batch of new episodes of The Daytripper launching on PBS and YouTube this month.

It's 2026, a new year, and we get further and further from the 1900's. In this episode we explore the origins of Popeye the Sailor Man, New Year's Resolutions, and the inevitability of Disney World for parents.

This month brings a mix of Christmas talk, Texas history, and a scary recap of a visit with a very haunted spot.

In our November podcast, we discuss the stress of catching fish, shark tracking, and being thankful.

It's October and we are kicking off spooky season with tales of cryptids, bigfoot, the Goat man of Texas, and other Texas tall tales.

September kicks off football season so we give our predictions, discuss enormous pythons crossing the road in small-town Texas, and the new fate of Shipley's Donuts.

This month we discuss the Texas floods, the Huntsville Prison Museum, and the rules for when a rattlesnake rattles.

This month we are honored to have William Beckmann join us for the Talkin' Texas podcast. William is a country music singer-songwriter and musician from Del Rio, Texas. Having gained popularity touring in the regional Texas music scene and self-releasing four extended plays, Beckmann signed with Warner Music Nashville and subsequently released his major label debut, Whiskey Lies & Alibis, on June 20, 2025. His music is a fusion of neotraditional country, with influences of red dirt, tejano, New Mexico music, and traditional pop, with critics noting his signature crooner-style baritone voice. Beckmann has toured with Parker McCollum, Randy Rogers Band, Charley Crockett, Radney Foster, Flatland Cavalry, Midland, and Hank Williams Jr.

Welcome to Summer! We cover the definition and types of snobs, places you can find human teeth, and we name all 7,000 caves in Texas. Not really, but caves are good places for hot Texas summers.

This episode focuses on highlights from the new episodes of The Daytripper premiering this month, along with the latest tales from the great state of Texas.
