בִּשְׁעַת קְרִיאַת עֲשֶׂרֶת הַדִּבְּרוֹת עוֹמְדִים וּפְנֵיהֶם אֶל הַסֵּפֶר תּוֹרָה
During the public reading of the Ten Commandments, the congregants stand and face the Torah scroll.
אֵין אוֹמְרִים אַקְדָמוּת
It is not our custom to recite the hymn beginning Akdamus.
הִסְתַּלְּקוּת הַבַּעַל שֵׁם טוֹב
The Baal Shem Tov passed away
בַּיוֹם הָרְבִיעִי א דְחַג הַשָּׁבוּעוֹת תק"ך
on Wednesday, the first day of Shavuos, 5520 (1760).
וּמְנוּחָתוֹ כָּבוֹד בְּמֶעזִיבּוּשׁ
His resting place is in Mezhibuzh.
אַדְמוּ"ר הַזָּקֵן אָמַר עַל זֶה
Concerning this, the Alter Rebbe said
יוֹם ד, כ בְּכִסְלֵו תקנ"ט בְּפּעֶטעֶרבּוּרג
on Wednesday, 20 Kislev, 5559 (1798), in Petersburg:
בַּיוֹם הָרְבִיעִי נִטְּלוּ הַמְּאוֹרוֹת
“On Wednesday, the luminaries were taken away.”
