ר' אַייזִיק הַלֵּוִי מִהָאמְלִי סִפֵּר
R. Aizik HaLevi of Homil related:
כְּשֶׁבָּאתִי לְליאָזנאָ
“When I came to Liozna,
מָצָאתִי מִזִּקְנֵי הַחֲסִידִים
I met elder chassidim
שֶׁהָיוּ מֵחֲסִידֵי הָרַב הַמַּגִּיד וְהָרַב הַקָּדוֹשׁ הָרַב מְנַחֵם מֶענדְל מֵהָארָאדָאק
who had been disciples of the Maggid of Mezritch and R. Menachem Mendel of Horodok.
וַהֲוָה מַרְגְּלָא בְּפוּמַייהוּ
They would frequently repeat the adage:
האָבּ האָלט אַ אִידעֶן
“Love a fellow Jew,
וועֶט הַשֵּׁם יִתְבָּרֵךְ דִיר האָלט האָבּעֶן
and G‑d will love you.
טוּ אַ טוֹבָה אַ אִידעֶן
Do a favor for a fellow Jew,
וועֶט הַשֵּׁם יִתְבָּרֵךְ דִיר אַ טוֹבָה טאָן
and G‑d will do a favor for you.
זַיי מְקָרֵב אַ אִידעֶן
Befriend a fellow Jew,
וועֶט הַשֵּׁם יִתְבָּרֵךְ דִיר מְקָרֵב זַיין
and G‑d will befriend you.”
