Inflammation is a complex, chemically driven process in the body that is inherently protective for the body against cellular damage and disease. However, due to lifestyle factors, many of our current day chronic diseases such as diabetes and heart disease are driven by what’s known as chronic inflammation. Unfortunately, the word ‘inflammation’ is mixed up in a lot of ‘woo’ with many foods demonised as causing inflammation and others promoted to superfood status for their ability to reduce it. What does the science say?
