After a two-day conclave, the first ever North American Pope Leo XIV has emerged as the leader of the Roman Catholic Church. Experts in constitutional law have affirmed that First Nations treaty rights would be respected if Alberta separated from Canada but added that they have no veto power over the province’s decision. Elections Canada revealed that over 800 ballots went uncounted after a returning officer mistakenly left them behind in a Metro Vancouver office.
