In this post-modern world wherein consensus reality seems less and less tethered to objective facts there are still a few headlines that one expects never to have to read; a string of words so bizarre that they manage to grab a chokehold on one's imagination with a strange mixture of fascination, fear and astonishment.
One such headline was delivered via the Daily Mail on February 6th, 2012, and it read: "Reason for Zimbabwe reservoir delays... mermaids have been hounding workers away!"
