After a forgettable DQ win over Sylwester Miller, the word was that the Manchester native would be given an opportunity on Contender Series to prove he was UFC calibre.
The opportunity came a whopping seventeen months after the Miller fight, with Cartwright coming out of it on the wrong end of a decision to Jose Johnson. In November 2023, Cartwright made a massive statement in his Oktagon debut, setting up a clash with former divisional champion Jonas Magard, which takes pride of place in Newcastle this Saturday night for Oktagon 52.
