Show Notes
Good morning! I'm Aaron Jolly. Welcome to the Connecticut Weather Podcast for Wednesday, February 25th.
Folks, grab your coffee and your snow brush. Fourteen degrees outside right now. And a quick hitting snowstorm is already knocking on our door.
Snow starts flying across the state around 5 A.M. Along the coast, it wraps up by noon. Central Connecticut keeps it going until 1 P.M. Eastern Connecticut? You've got the longest window.. Snow sticking around until 3 P.M. Peak intensity hits early. Coastal and eastern towns see the heaviest rates near 7 A.M. Central Connecticut peaks closer to 8 A.M. We're talking half an inch to an inch per hour during those bursts. That's enough to turn your commute into a skating rink.
Total accumulation runs one to three inches statewide. Not a blockbuster, but with temps starting in the teens, every flake sticks.
Now the temperatures. The coast wakes up at 25 degrees around 5 A.M., then climbs to 38 degrees by 3 P.M. Central Connecticut starts brutally cold.. 17 degrees at 5 A.M., crawling to 36 degrees by 2 P.M. Eastern Connecticut sits at 20 degrees around 5 A.M., reaching 38 degrees by 3 P.M. Winds shift from south to southwest around 9 A.M. along the coast and closer to 10 A.M. out east.
Tonight skies partially clear. Lows settle into the mid 20s. Thursday brings partly sunny skies and 39 degrees. Not bad.
Here's where it gets interesting. The weekend is shaping up beautifully. Saturday's the gem.. Mostly sunny, mid 40s. Feels like a gift. Then early next week, an Arctic blast crashes the party. Highs drop back into the 20s with a chance of snow Monday.
Fun fact. On this date in 2016, Connecticut hit nearly 47 degrees. Today you're getting 39. Spring equinox is three weeks out. And you're gaining almost three minutes of daylight every day. Progress.
If you're driving this morning, slow down and leave early. Your future self will thank you.
That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow. Take care!
