Show Notes

Good morning! I'm Aaron Jolly, and you're listening to the 6 AM Connecticut Weather Podcast. It's Friday, February 16th. Folks, step outside right now and you'll feel it immediately. That rain isn't just falling. It's seeping into everything. The kind of wet that finds your collar and doesn't let go. Here's the deal. Along the coast, you're sitting at 38 degrees with a steady east wind pushing 6 to 10 miles an hour. Head over to eastern Connecticut and it's a touch warmer at 39 degrees. Same damp breeze though. Central Connecticut? Holding at 36 degrees with lighter northeast winds. Just enough to make that rain feel like it's personally targeting you. But here's the thing. This rain has a short attention span. By midday it fizzles out, leaving behind a raw, clammy afternoon. Highs barely scratch the upper 30s. Think of today as winter's last soggy handshake before the weekend rescues us. And what a rescue it's. Saturday dries out with sunshine and highs near 40 degrees. Sunday gets even better. Brighter skies, mid 40s. Perfect for a late winter walk. Air quality sits in the good range today too, so your lungs will thank you. Quick bonus for the coast lovers. Low tide at New London hits 5:33 PM, right around sunset at 5:30. Extra shoreline and golden light. Not bad for February. Here's your heads up for the week ahead. This wet start vanishes fast. You're looking at a stretch of dry, seasonable days. Highs in the 40s, lows in the 20s. No nor'easters lurking. No coastal flooding drama. Just a steady, quiet march toward spring. And we're gaining two minutes and 41 seconds of daylight every single day now. Sunrise at 6:40 this morning already feels a little less brutal. So. If this podcast helped you plan your Friday, share it with someone who hates weather surprises. We all know that person. I'll be back at 9 AM with a fresh look at that weekend sunshine. Stay dry out there!
