In this episode we are discussing the Israeli dilemma of “If?” and “How” to negotiate the release of its citizens who have been kidnapped. We will see that not only is this a current, open and gaping wound, but one with a myriad of historical precedence in Israel.
On one hand, negotiating hostages in exchange for murderers does not satiate but wholly encourages this nation’s many enemies to continue to terrorize.
And on the other; Does it imbue these citizens with a deeply rooted morale to continue under the extraordinary and constant threat to our well being - knowing our country will do everything in its power to bring back our sons and daughters - even if it means placing Israel at a military disadvantage?
Perhaps the most difficult discussion we’ve had to date.
