Daniel Dana (1771-1859) was a Presbyterian pastor in Massachusetts and New Hampshire. This piece was originally an article in the American Quarterly Register. In it, Dana speaks to the reasons why a minister must be serious, the nature of a minister's seriousness, and the influence and effect of his seriousness.
