Show Notes

What does it mean when the body suddenly feels… smooth?

In this episode, I share a strange but powerful experience that has happened to me three different times — after a massage, while sitting in a sauna, and most recently while relaxing on the couch at home. Each time, something in my nervous system shifted and my body lost its usual internal tension. Everything felt fluid, calm, and effortless — almost as if the body stopped resisting itself.

I explore what this sensation of “smoothness” might actually mean in terms of nervous system regulation and coherence, and why these moments may be signs that the body is moving out of survival mode and into a more balanced, regulated state.

Most importantly, I talk about how these experiences evolved from being triggered by external conditions… to eventually appearing on their own as the nervous system begins to learn a new baseline.

In the second half of the episode, I walk through three simple practices listeners can use to help their own nervous system move toward sustained coherence: softening the body, allowing the breath to become rhythmic, and giving the body space to release stored tension naturally.

If you’ve ever felt a moment where stress suddenly seemed to melt away and your body felt calm, fluid, and grounded, this episode may help you understand what was happening — and how to invite more of those moments into your life.
