We made it to the final “one another” this season, and that’s to forgive one another. Unforgiveness will lead to bitterness, closing off relationships to one another and to God. A great relationship with one another is ultimately defined by mutual submission out of reverence for Christ. Whether it be in marriage, between children and parents or between bosses and employees, may we humble ourselves and submit ourselves to one another, just as Christ did for us.

If the Church comes together as one, rooted in the gospel of Jesus Christ, the world would take notice. Live in harmony with one another. Do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly. Forgiveness of sin comes from Jesus alone, but often healing comes in the context of community. Who are you praying for? Who do you have in your life that’s praying for you? Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working. – James 5:16

More than any other, we are commanded to love one another as He has loved us. We can’t do this alone; Jesus invites us to abide in Him and He will abide in us. The more we abide in Jesus, the more fruit we bear that can pour out to love one another unconditionally, like Christ has loved us. This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. – John 15:12

This week’s one another comes from Hebrews 10. May we always encourage one another and surround ourselves with those that continually point us to Jesus. This week, Pastor Joby talks about the event in John 13 when Jesus washes the disciples’ feet. He washes the feet of those that would follow Him, betray Him and deny Him. Many people find themselves in places of authority, not just at work, but at home as moms or dads. What do you do when you find yourself in a place of authority? What would it look like for you to “wash the feet” of those around you? If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another's feet. – John 13:14 Love one another with brotherly affection. Jesus laid down His perfection and took from us our sin, not because we deserved it, but because He decided He was going to do it on our behalf. That’s what honor is. Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor. – Romans 12:10

In a world that tries to tear us apart, the gospel informs us that just as Christ welcomed us, we are to welcome one another for the glory of God. Therefore welcome one another as Christ has welcomed you, for the glory of God. - Romans 15:7

One of the primary ways to love one another is to bear one another’s burdens. In this week’s devo, Pastor Joby talks about Mary, Martha and their brother, Lazarus. In John 11, we see how Jesus carries the burdens of his friends. Jesus knows Lazarus is going to die and He is going to bring Lazarus back to life, but he meets Mary and Martha where they are and bear their burden when they needed it most. He weeps with those who are weeping. We’re called to bear one another’s burdens because Jesus bore our sin on the cross. As Jesus bears your burden, are you willing and able to bear one another’s burdens? Bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ. – Galatians 6:2

The way we speak to one another matters. The way we speak to one another is not a reflection of the mouth, but a reflection of the heart. Are you speaking life, or are you speaking death? ¹⁹ addressing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody to the Lord with your heart, ²⁰ giving thanks always and for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, ²¹ submitting to one another out of reverence for Christ. – Ephesians 5:19-21

We can not simultaneously look down our nose on other people and fix our eyes on Jesus, the Author and Perfector of our faith. ²⁵ If we live by the Spirit, let us also keep in step with the Spirit. ²⁶ Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another. - Galatians 5:25-26

The most commanded one another is to love one another. You can't love one another if you lie to one another. There's plenty of reasons why we lie; maybe it's for the applause of man or maybe it's to keep parts of our lives in the dark. But Jesus died on the cross so we can live in light of the gospel and walk in the freedom Christ came to give us. ⁹ Do not lie to one another, seeing that you have put off the old self with its practices ¹⁰ and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge after the image of its creator. - Colossians 3:9-10

Last week, Pastor Joby taught through exhorting one another, holding one another accountable and pointing back to the eternal well of living water only Christ can offer. There's a difference between exhorting and passing judgment. It's putting your own preferences and opinions aside and continuously pointing to the gospel. There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. - Romans 8:1

We all get thirsty for the temporary things of this world that will never satisfy. Do you have people in your life to point you back to the eternal well of living water of Jesus Christ? Are you doing that to others? But exhort one another every day, as long as it is called “today,” that none of you may be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin. - Hebrews 3:13

You will find what you are looking for. If you are looking for reasons to not believe, there are many: social, theological, historical, religious, traditional…but if you are looking for true life, you will find it in Jesus alone. We are saved by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone. Our salvation can’t be earned. ¹³ For you were called to freedom, brothers. Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another. ¹⁴ For the whole law is fulfilled in one word: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” ¹⁵ But if you bite and devour one another, watch out that you are not consumed by one another. - Galatians 5:13-15
