The Notorious G.O.D. Refuting the Book, Soul Boom. Why We Need a Spiritual Revolution.

In this chapter of the book Soul Boom, Author, Rainn Wilson, presents a negative portrayal of the God of the Old Testament, describing Him as an anthropomorphized entity who occasionally flies into rages, can be vindictive and violent, and who is narcissistically obsessed with people bowing down and worshipping Him. While these claims are commonly echoed in secular media and atheistic books, it's essential to examine the context and understand the nature of God as depicted in the Bible. Join host, Rebecca Berschwinger, as she debunks the authors claims and discusses the concept of God's wrath and divine punishment and its being a necessary part of a loving and just God. https://onelittlecandlepodcast.com https://christianpodcastcommunity.org https://lovintruthbooks.com

S4 Ep 1S4E1 – Roots of American Cancel Culture

To start off this season, I look at the writings of Alexis de Tocqueville, specifically his work Democracy in America written in the 1830s. Today I consider his chapter on omnipotence and tyranny of the majority. In democracy, we say that majority rules. But what restrains the majority from abusing their power? What about when the majority opinion is formed? How are those who go against the majority treated? Tocqueville answers those questions while also describing what we would call the roots of cancel culture in America. Now, almost two hundred years later, the roots of cancel culture have produced the fruit. As always, if you have any law/government related questions, feel free to email me at [email protected], and I will be happy to address them on the program. Thank you and God bless! Behold! I am a new creature in Christ

Abundant Life Episode 52 In this episode Saso and Ben bring Heather Gapen back on the show to discuss sanctification. From the time we are born again, we begin to grow as a Christian with the ultimate goal of being like Jesus. (Holy means set apart) Key Verse 2 Corinthians 5:17 – Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. 1 Peter 1:5-7 – For this very reason, make every effort to supplement your faith with virtue, and virtue with knowledge, and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with steadfastness, and steadfastness with godliness, and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love. Hebrews 12:10 – For they indeed for a few days chastened us as seemed best to them, but He for our profit, that we may be partakers of His holiness. Acts 26:18 – To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me. Philippians 3:12-14 – Not that I have already attained,or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me. Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. Acts 2:42 – And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers. Philippians 2:12 – Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, so now, not only as in my presence but much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling,

Dealing with Offenses & Forgiveness

Abundant Life Episode 51 In this episode Saso and Ben have the privilege of interviewing Heather Gapen and talk about forgiveness. Heather has a tremendous testimony. God miraculously saved Heather out of a life of addictions and brokenness. In the process of Heather growing as a Christian, she was faced with one of the most difficult commands of scripture, forgiveness, forgiving one another, and more specifically forgiving her mom. Websters 1828 Forgiveness – The act of forgiving; the pardon of an offender, by which he is considered and treated as not guilty. The forgiveness of enemies is a christian duty. Key Verse Matthew 18:21-22 – Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times? Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven. S3 Ep 24S3E24 – Modern Spiritual Warfare

This week, I finish the series on idolatry and the demonic by looking at our modern context. Secularism, at its root, is a modern form of paganism. The idea that there is no God, there is no meaning, and we are all just little autonomous gods running around is simply paganism repackaged. These ideas have possessed our culture today, similar to other cultures in the past. But there is a solution. So please join me today as I end this season of the podcast looking at a very important, and relevant, topic. Critical Race Theory as an Analytical Tool?

Thoroughly Equipped S.2 Ep.32 What is Critical Race Theory? What does it teach? Should Critical Race Theory be used as an analytical tool? And is this theory something you should worry about? In this episode I interview Andrew Rappaport from the Rapp Report to tackle these questions. Before we dive into the Be the Bridge ministry and other racial reconciliation ministries promoted at the IF:Gathering, we need to lay the ground work and look at the presuppositions that come with Critical Race Theory. This way when we look at these ministries and what they claim and teach, we will see how they incorporate CRT as an analytical tool and assume certain things in regards to racism and white superiority. If we get the problem wrong, the solution will be wrong. If we misdiagnose the problem there will be no reconciliation. So will incorporating Critical Race Theory as an analytical tool help the church with racial reconciliation? Does it accurately diagnose the problem? The War on Humanity

Abundant Life Episode 50 In this episode Saso and Ben talk about Satan’s plan to destroy humanity. This episode was inspired by the recent Nefarious movie release (Please use discretion before watching movie, may no be suitable for young children) Websters 1828 – Vigilant – Watchful; circumspect; attentive to discover and avoid danger, or to provide for safety. Key Verse 1 Peter 5:8 – Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour 1 John 2:15-16 – Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. Ephesians 6:10-18 – Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints; 1 John 4:4 – Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. Acts 5:3 – But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, and to keep back part of the price of the land? Luke 22:3-6 – Then entered Satan into Judas surnamed Iscariot, being of the number of the twelve. And he went his way, and communed with the chief priests and captains, how he might betray him unto them. And they were glad, and covenanted to give him money. And he promised, and sought opportunity to betray him unto them in the absence of the multitude. Proverbs 28:26 – He that trusteth in his own heart is a fool: but whoso walketh wisely, he shall be delivered. Matthew 16:26 – For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? James 1:14-15 – But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death. James 4:7 – Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Revelation 20:10 – And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever. S2 Ep 30IF:Equip’s Arise- Seeds of Social Justice (Pt.3 Jesus & Justice)

What does IF:Equip's Arise teach about Jesus and Social Justice? IF:Equip's Arise, claims that Jesus’ ministry was mostly focused on the marginalized, oppressed, and poor in society. His purpose was to always set free, and heal and that these acts of mercy and compassion were Jesus fighting for justice. In this episode we will look at how IF:Equip's Arise presents Jesus. We will look at what they claim His mission and ministry was. Both Social Gospel and IF:Equip's Arise teach that Jesus set about to uproot social norms, and to bring temporal comforts to social groups. They claim that Jesus was stating that His this was His mission by quoting Isaiah 61:1-2 to make this claim in Luke 4:16-18. But is this true? What did Jesus mean by quoting Isaiah 61:1-2? IF:Equip's Arise also makes the claim that Jesus was always quick to heal, feed, and rescue the oppressed; that Jesus always did these things when presenting the Gospel and was even willing to "break a rule" to love His neighbor through social acts of restoration. I wanted to look at Scripture and see if that was true. Bottom line: what is the problem with presenting Jesus as a Social Justice warrior? Where might this lead an unbeliever or a new convert? What might this do to the faith, assurance, and sanctification of a wife and a mother? Ep 69The Highs and the Lows: An #SBC2023 Review

In this special edition of the Patriot Pastor's Podcast, we recap the events of #SBC23 in New Orleans. We talk about many of the low and some of the high moments that are commendable. We discuss: 1) The outcome of the SBC Presidential race between Mike Stone and the incumbent Bart Barber. 2) The president of Lifeway, Ben Mandrell, whose mind is set that Lifeway will continue to sell material that does not align with the Baptist Faith and Message. 3) Todd Unzicker's very divisive sermon that was preached where he pointed his finger at many outspoken conservatives. 4) The messenger's overwhelming support to disfellowship with three SBC churches, one being Rick Warren's Saddleback Church over women pastors. 5) Mike Law's amendment to the Baptist Faith and Message which beefs up the wording stating that only men can be pastors.

S2 Ep 29IF:Equip’s Arise- Seeds of Social Justice (Pt 2. Restored to Restore)

Thoroughly Equipped Season 2 Episode 30 IF:Equip's Arise, claims that the church is the light of the world whose mission is to bring restoration to it by "fighting against the darkness". Today we will look at the other 2 foundations IF:Equip's Arise presents for why Christian (specifically Christian women) are to fight for justice…that, as followers of Christ, we are the light of the world and must “push back the darkness of injustice” and that we were restored to restore the world through reconciliation. In essence the mission of the church is to bring justice to this world. All of this at first glance sounds biblical, sounds true. The statement that Christ followers are the light of the world and are to push back against the darkness is a true statement. Where we start to see problems is when we begin to understand what Arise means by being lights, and what Arise teaches about how we are to push back against the darkness. Arise has a specific teaching in this study about what it means to be a light. What does IF:Equip's Arise teach the darkness is? What does IF:Equip's Arise teach about what it means to be the light and walk in the light? How is a Christian to bring restoration? What does the church need to do to bring reconciliation? Does IF: Equip's Arise teach what Scripture teaches about what it means to be a light in the world, what it means to fight the darkness, and how a Christian woman is to bring reconciliation and restoration? Let's compare it to Scripture. The Mote and the Beam. The Calvary Road Chapter 7..

Recognizing our unloving reaction to the mote in a fellow believers eye while removing the beam from our own. "Judge not, that ye be not judged. For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again. And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye? Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye? Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye. Revival in the Home. The Calvary Road. Chapter 6.

"Revival begins in the home. It was into the home that sin first came. It is in the home that we sin more than perhaps anywhere else, and it is to the home that revival first needs to come. Revival is desperately needed in the church - - in the country - - in the world, but a revived church with unrevived homes would be sheer hypocrisy. It is the hardest place, the most costly, but the most necessary place to begin." Roy Hession. www.onelittlecandlepodcast.com www.christianpodcastcommunity.org

IF: Arise- Seeds of Social Justice (Pt 1: God & Justice)

Thoroughly Equipped Season 2 Episode 29 Is justice a Gospel issue? Justice is an important issue that is at the foundation of the Gospel. It has been a highly charged topic in our society today. God is just therefore justice should be important to the Christian. But to exercise justice it must be rightly defined, depend on who God is, and should be guided by God's word. We can claim God is just but we must first ask what does it mean to be "just". Does IF:Equip's women's discipleship study Arise: A Study on God's Heart for Justice lay a solid foundation that will produce true justice? Let's dive in and look at what IF:Equip's Arise teaches about justice. Topics include: Why is justice important according to IF:Arise? What is justice and what does it have to do with righteousness? The image of God a good place to start with when we want to study justice? Is justice a Gospel work? Does IF:Arise sow Social Gospel seeds? Jesus is Coming Back!

Abundant Life Episode 48 In this episode Saso and Ben discuss Jesus path from resurrection to second coming. RESURREC’TION A rising again; chiefly, the revival of the dead of the human race, or their return from the grave, particularly at the general judgment. By the resurrection of Christ we have assurance of the future resurrection of men. 1 Peter 1:3 “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.” - Websters 1828 Key Verses Acts 1:11 Matthew 24:30 John 20:7 There are some who analyze this verse but Pastor Charles Elliott preached a sermon about the significance of the folding of the napkin. In this message, he spoke about how Jesus did not cast His grave clothes to the side in a crumpled fashion but folded them to signify He was not done and would return. He is coming again just as He said! Mark 16:6 Those who went to the tomb in the early morning were frightened by Jesus missing from the grave. Jesus spoke of this and it was also prophesied but yet they expected to find Him in the tomb even on the third day. Matthew 24:27 It would seem that we are living in end times. Or as the book of Matthew calls it, it seems we are living as in the days of Noah. Increase of evil in the world - daily main stream media news Call good bad and bad good - common speech, social media Falling away of people from the church/religion - numbers are down Increased Violence - mass killing, school shootings Sin is glorified and promoted - transgender movements Natural disasters and events - flooding, earthquakes Famine - Ukraine, Africa Pestilence - Covid Rapture and Second Coming Distinction 1 Corinthians 15:51-53 Rapture: Pre-trib Mid-trib Post-trib 1 Thessalonians 4:13–18 Jesus meets the raptured church in the air (in the clouds) Jesus doesn’t appear to be described as descending to the Earth to rule and reign at this point in time Second Coming Second coming description by John in Revelation: Revelation 19:11–16 Second coming location Zechariah 14:4 Second coming signs Matthew 24:3 False Christs Wars and rumors of wars Nation will rise agains nation and kingdom against kingdom Famines Pestilences Earthquakes (natural disasters) Afflicted and hated and killed for the name of Jesus Betrayal, hatred, offenses The gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come Matthew 24:32-35 Matthew 24:36-39 Are you prepared? Titus 2:11-13 John 11:25-26 1 Thessalonians 4:14 Closing Do you believe the gospel? Are you ready for His coming again? He is coming back as the King to gather His bride unto Himself. Life is short, and we know not when our day will come or when the trump will blow.
