Show Notes

In this edition of the Chatterbox Redux Podcast, Sue and Nick are joined by Marty Wilde, who talks about his new single, album and his 2026 UK tour.

Marty first shot to fame in July 1958 with his Elvis-esque, ‘Endless Sleep’. His song-writing career began with his first self-penned chart hit 'Bad Boy' which was a Top 5 hit in 1959, since then Marty has penned chart hits for daughter Kim, (all her early original hits were written by Marty and Ricky). Marty was also involved with writing hits for Status Quo 'Ice In The Sun', ‘Jesamine' by the Casuals, Lulu 'I'm A Tiger', Hot Chocolate 'You'll Never Be So Wrong' and additional recordings by such artistes as Tom Jones, Sandie Shaw, Adam Faith, Snow Patrol and many more. Hits such as the No2 ‘Teenager In Love’, No3 ‘Sea of Love’, ‘Donna’ and No4 ‘Endless Sleep’, catapulted Marty Wilde into the UK charts as the teenage heart-throb that took the nation by storm. Since then, Marty Wilde has been a proactive force within our chart industry as a performer, singer, songwriter, and dad to Brit Award winning, Kim Wilde (who in her own right has over 30 chart hits internationally to date, including ‘Kids In America’ & ‘You Keep Me Hanging On’ which went to No1 in America),

Let’s Rock This Place is the first single to be taken from Marty Wilde’s brand-new album of the same name and sees him return to his Rock ‘n’ Roll roots! While, Let’s Rock This Place, a brand-new studio album is released on 17th April 2026.

Created in collaboration with guitarist and lifelong Wilde fan Darrel Higham – best known for his long-term touring work with Imelda May, sessions for Chrissie Hynde and Jeff Beck,

What began as the idea for a small EP quickly grew into a full 12-track album after the initial recordings received an overwhelmingly positive reaction. Backed by Darrel Higham And The Enforcers – widely acclaimed as one of the UK’s finest rockabilly outfits – Wilde delivers a thrilling set that blends classic hits, much-loved B-sides and striking new interpretations, all performed with fire, swagger and unmistakable authenticity.

Marty Wilde’s late-career creative resurgence has been remarkable. His 2020 album Running Together saw him achieve the rare feat of appearing in the UK’s Official Charts across eight successive decades, while April 2024’s single Two Eyes Streaming celebrated his 85th birthday by reaching Number One on the Heritage Chart. Let’s Rock This Place builds on that momentum, capturing a veteran artist refusing to stand still – and sounding utterly at home in the music that helped define a generation.

Available on CD, 12-inch vinyl LP and all digital formats, Let’s Rock This Place is a bold, joyous statement from a true rock ’n’ roll original.
