Ep 317The Conservative Debate was a MESS
On Wednesday night, Conservative Party members had another opportunity to hear from leadership candidates and their vision for Canada. Unfortunately, the format of the debate resulted in a boring and largely uneventful and many disappointed viewers. Not only were simplistic and uninspiring questions about the candidates’ favourite books and TV shows asked, the perceived frontrunner Pierre Poilievre was forced to remain silent for nearly half of the debate. Further, candidates were given very short time periods to provide answers to complex issues. There were no winners in last night’s debate, only losers — thanks to the Conservative Party. On this episode of the Candice Malcolm Show, Candice reacts to the disappointing debate, the format chosen by the party and the media’s unanimous disapproval. Ep 316Election Season: Analyzing the vote in Ontario, Alberta and the CPC
In Ontario, Progressive Conservative leader Doug Ford is hoping to win another majority but it’s not a clear path for victory for the Conservatives. The NDP and Liberals are hoping to increase their seat count and disgruntled conservatives are working against Ford because of his pandemic response. Meanwhile, the Conservative Leadership race continues to heat up as candidates sign up new members and appeal to conservatives in Canada. Plus, the results of the United Conservative Party leadership review are set to be announced in the next few days. On today’s episode of the Candice Malcolm Show, Candice is joined by pollster and Partner at One Persuades Hamish Marshall to analyze the busy election season. Candice and Hamish discuss the top issues in Ontario, the strategies of the candidates in the Conservative leadership race and how Jason Kenney may fare in the upcoming leadership review. Ep 314Liberals and legacy media use Roe v. Wade to virtue signal
It’s Fake News Friday on The Candice Malcolm Show, coming to you from the fake news capital of Canada! With Roe v. Wade set to be overturned in the US, the Liberals and the legacy media jumped at the opportunity to use the issue of abortion to demonize conservatives and virtue-signal – despite the fact that there are no abortion laws in Canada. Plus, the Trudeau government celebrates World Press Freedom Day and touts the importance of an independent press. Meanwhile, the government continues to subsidize legacy media outlets and attempts to silence independent media in Canada. True North’s Candice Malcolm and Andrew Lawton discuss these stories and more in-person at the Canada Strong and Free Conference in Ottawa. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information. Ep 313Trudeau’s blatant anti-Western Canadian bias continues
The Trudeau government has approved a massive oil project in Eastern Canada, while at the same time, blocking energy projects in Western Canada. Meanwhile, Quebec has become the first jurisdiction in the world to end all oil and gas exploration – but of course, they’ll still benefit billions from Canada’s equalization program courtesy of the West. On this episode of The Candice Malcolm Show, Candice is joined by seasoned entrepreneur Michael Binnion. Michael is the President and founding shareholder of Questerre Energy, a public oil and gas production company operating in Quebec. He is also the Executive Director of the Modern Miracle Network, whose mission is to encourage Canadians to have reasoned conversations about energy issues. Candice and Michael discuss Quebec’s controversial decision to ban oil and gas, the Trudeau government’s anti-Western Canadian bias and what the oil and gas sector is doing to lower emissions and much more. Ep 312A real conversation about family policy in Canada
While the Trudeau government attempts to use Roe V Wade to virtue signal and achieve cheap political points in Canada, a real conversation about family policy is desperately needed. Canada’s birth rate is declining at a concerning rate because fewer families are having kids. Ginny Roth, the Vice President at Crestview Strategy, believes this is an opportunity for Conservatives to step up. Ginny argues that the Liberal approach has failed and that “a conservative feminism should drop labour-force participation as the only measure of gender equality.” On this episode of The Candice Malcolm Show, Candice and Ginny discuss the Trudeau government’s $10/day child care agreement, how the Liberals are portraying the program as “women’s liberation” and what a Conservative family policy might look like. Ep 310Trudeau wants to decide what you see on the news
The Trudeau government has tabled Bill C-18, the Online News Act, to ensure media outlets in Canada receive “fair compensation” from tech giants. Part of this legislation includes designating certain media outlets as government-approved media – “Qualified Canadian Journalism Organization.” Why is the government trying to dictate what Canadians see on the news and forcing big tech to subsidize media outlets in Canada? On this episode of The Candice Malcolm Show, Candice is joined by True North’s Andrew Lawton to discuss the government’s latest attempt to save the dying legacy media, similar legislation in other countries and the Trudeau government’s cozy relationship with the legacy media. Ep 309The Trudeau government relied on CBC’s fake news to freeze Canadians’ bank accounts
Despite the fact that the CBC publicly retracted a news story about the Freedom Convoy that erroneously claimed that support for the protest had largely come from foreigners, the Trudeau government relied on the state broadcaster to justify its use of the Emergencies Act. This week, Attorney General David Lametti confirmed that the government relied on false CBC reports when freezing the bank accounts of Canadians who supported the protest. Plus, weeks after the legacy media freaked out about a Conservative MP calling Justin Trudeau a dictator, so-called journalists go silent after a Liberal MP accuses Premier Doug Ford of “crimes against humanity.” Lastly, thanks to the CBC – if you didn’t have a favourite non-binary, pansexual, South Asian, Muslim comedian yet – now you do! Ep 308Canada’s totalitarian approach to COVID (Ft. Dr. Julie Ponesse)
The COVID-19 pandemic exposed the frailty of Canada’s government-run healthcare system and the lack of leadership in Canada. Canada’s healthcare system didn’t have the capacity, the flexibility, the innovation or the robustness to handle a novel virus that disproportionately impacted the very old, the very weak and the very sick. Meanwhile, Canadians witnessed a colossal failure in leadership across the board – politics, government, media, business and even academia. Dr. Julie Ponesse joins The Candice Malcolm Show to discuss Canada’s totalitarian approach to the pandemic. Dr. Ponesse recently walked away from her academic career after refusing to comply with Western University’s vaccine mandate. She says we are “living through a pandemic of coercion and compliance.” In this interview, Candice and Dr. Ponesse touch on a range of topics, including Dr. Ponesse’s departure from academia, her book “My Choice on the ethics of forced vaccination,” Canada’s failures during the pandemic and much more. Ep 307How has the Charter of Rights and Freedoms changed Canada? (Ft. The Hon. Brian Peckford)
The Charter of Rights and Freedoms is 40-years-old this year. What was the Charter intended to do? What was the vision of the original signatories? On today’s episode of The Candice Malcolm Show, Candice is joined by one of the signers of the original Charter, the Honourable Brian Peckford. Peckford served as the Progressive Conservative Premier of Newfoundland from 1979 to 1989. He is the last living signatory of the Charter of Rights and Freedoms. Over the past year, the former premier has become a symbol of Canadians’ opposition to government overreach and the government’s response to COVID. Candice and Mr. Peckford discuss how the Charter has changed Canada since its signing, if the Charter protected our rights and freedoms during COVID, the government’s handling of the freedom convoy and much more. Ep 306Standing up against the corporate media’s social justice agenda (Ft. Jamil Jivani)
The woke mind virus has infected just about every company in corporate Canada, but it seems to be the media has been hardest hit, with anti-conservative purges happening in editorial sections and managerial rooms across the country. For those few journalists who refuse to go along with the media’s social justice agenda and push back against the Left’s woke world view, they run the risk of losing their jobs. On this episode of The Candice Malcolm Show, former radio host Jamil Jivani joins the show. Jamil was recently fired by Bell Media and iHeartRadio for refusing to push the woke dogma or parrot their ideological talking points on identity politics. Candice and Jamil discuss the sad state of the corporate legacy media in Canada, how conservatives are fighting back, Elon Musk’s takeover of Twitter and much more. Ep 305The Charter didn’t stop Canada’s Covid slide towards tyranny
While many Liberals unabashedly celebrated the 40th anniversary of the signing of the Charter of Rights and Freedoms last week, many Canadians were left wondering: if the Charter couldn’t protect our freedoms during Covid, then what good is it? On today’s episode of the Candice Malcolm Show, Candice is joined by lawyer, legal scholar and President of the Justice Centre for Constitutional Freedoms (JCCF), John Carpay. Candice and John discuss the purpose of the Charter, its history and its many shortfalls. They discuss the worst government offenders during Covid, the most draconian and anti-freedom policies, and why our Charter didn’t do more to protect individual rights and freedoms during the dystopian nightmare of the past two years. Finally, Candice asks John if Canada is truly a free country and if it’s fair comment to describe Canada as a “dictatorship” – as we’ve heard recently from Conservative activists and politicians. Ep 304Legacy media obsess over skin colour at Conservative rallies
It’s Fake News Friday on the Candice Malcolm Show! Candice looks at the latest developing fake news story line in the legacy media, which is that Pierre Poilievre must be racist because he appeals to too many “white people.” Rather than critiquing conservatives on substance, lazy journalists would much rather simply hurl insults because apparently having “white people” at your rally is a bad thing. One substantive critique of Poilievre did come from the CBC – where “experts say” that contrary to Poilievre’s critique of government borrowing and printing of money, the real cause of inflation has little to do with government. “Government spending is one of many factors pushing prices up — but it’s a relatively modest one,” said one left-wing economist defending Trudeau. “It really doesn’t matter what Canada’s government spends,” said another. You can’t make this stuff up. Another CBC article goes even further in defending the Trudeau government, telling us that the “pick-up truck tax doesn’t exist” – this despite the tax being listed in a government report released by Trudeau’s Environment Minister. The CBC may not understand basic math, economics, civics or how laws are passed, but they do understand where their bread is buttered: they exist for the sole purpose of defending Justin Trudeau. Ep 303Proposed ‘pick-up truck tax’ the latest in Trudeau’s war against the working class
Buried deep in a Trudeau government report released last month was a proposal to slap a new tax on pick-up trucks – by far the most popular vehicles in Canada. The recommendation attached to Environment Minister Steven Guilbeault’s climate change report called for a tax of anywhere between $1,000 and $4,000. On today’s episode of the Candice Malcolm Show, Candice is joined by the researcher who found this buried tax proposal and exposed it – Kris Sims of the Canadian Taxpayers Federation (CTF). Remarkably, after Sims broke the story, Guilbeault went on the attack and called her factual news report “disinformation” and “fake news.” This is the same minister who first drafted Bills C-10 and C-36 that seek to censor and ban so-called disinformation. The Trudeau government’s loyal CBC stenographer Aaron Wherry was quick to repeat Guilbeault’s talking points in an article that accuses Sims and the CTF of criticizing a “Truck Tax that doesn’t exist.” Candice and Kris talk about the bizarre world of federal politics where Trudeau government officials deny facts that are published in their own reports, where journalists hold government critics – rather than government officials – to account, the growing cultural divide between the laptop class and the working class, and the brewing culture war over pick-up trucks. Ep 302Canada’s top political journalist goes independent (ft. Paul Wells)
One of Canada’s most trusted journalists, Paul Wells, left Maclean's magazine last month after nearly 20 years with the magazine. This week, he announced that he would not be joining another legacy outlet – instead, he launched his own independent newsletter on Substack. On today’s episode of the Candice Malcolm Show, Candice is joined by the man himself, Paul Wells, to talk about what prompted this big decision at this point in his career. They discuss the state of journalism in Canada, the changing media landscape and how it hurts local journalism, the benefits of independent media, and the impact of government subsidies in the legacy media. They also discuss the Trucker convoy, the divisive political climate in Ottawa and across Canada, Justin Trudeau’s legacy, and the often lack of accountability for this government. We don’t always agree with Paul Wells' take on things (and vice versa) but we appreciate his willingness to come on our show and have a civil discussion about the issues of the day. We encourage everyone to support independent journalism and check out Paul’s newsletter at www.PaulWells.substack.com See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information. Ep 301How will Trudeau’s internet censorship bills impact True North? (Ft. JJ McCullough)
The Trudeau government wants to meddle in the content you see online. They want to apply the clunky and out-dated regulatory framework of the CRTC and awkwardly use it to regulate the internet. On today’s episode of the Candice Malcolm Show, Candice is joined by one of Canada’s most prominent political internet personalities, JJ McCullough. JJ opposes the new bills, C-11 and C-18, despite the fact that he would very likely benefit from them. He warns that they are based on a “boomer ignorance of what the internet is” and there is no evidence they are needed. Candice and JJ discuss Trudeau’s hypocrisy in saying that Canada has no core identity, while also using the CRTC to promote “Canadian content”, balancing threats to free speech from big government and big tech, and what the proposed bills will all mean for small independent outlets like True North. Ep 300Can Canada become a global power? (ft. Irvin Studin)
Under Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Canada is one of the only countries in the world, in the history of the world, to routinely sacrifices its own national interest to virtue signal. Instead of focussing on a vision for Canada in the future, the Trudeau government is focused on social justice, climate change, mass redistribution of wealth and equity. Is there a better path forward? What does the future hold for Canada? Can Canada become a global power? These are questions that shape the thinking of one of Canada’s brightest policy thinkers, Dr. Irvin Studin. Irvin is the Founder, Editor-In-Chief and publisher of Global Brief Magazine. He recently published a new book, Canada must think for itself: 10 theses for our countries survival and success in the 21st century. On this episode of the Candice Malcolm Show, Candice is joined by Irvin Studin to discuss the challenges that Canada faces and the potential future that lays ahead for our county. Ep 299Justin Trudeau is determined to censor the internet (Feat. Ezra Levant)
After Justin Trudeau’s dreadful online censorship bills thankfully died because Trudeau called an election in the Fall of 2021, they’re back and they’re worse than before. The Trudeau government has reintroduced its latest online censorship legislation – Bills C-11 and C-18. Under Trudeau’s new censorship regime, big tech platforms will be forced to promote government-defined Canadian content and to pay news outlets for articles that are shared on online platforms. On today’s episode of The Candice Malcolm Show, Rebel News boss Ezra Levant joins Candice to discuss what Trudeau’s online censorship legislation means for Canadians and why Trudeau is determined to censor the internet. Ep 298Why is Canada so expensive and will government spending help? (Ft. Chris Spoke)
Buying a house in Canada is becoming increasingly difficult, particularly in major cities. Governments of all levels are throwing money at the problem, but will that actually help Canadians buy a home? On this episode of The Candice Malcolm Show, Candice is joined by Chris Spoke. Chris is a contributor to the Hub, the founder and CEO of August and the founder of Housing Matters – an advocacy group which aims to advance the cause of land use liberalization in order to solve the urban housing problem. Candice and Chris discuss the federal budget and the government’s attempt to address the housing situation in Canada, the YIMBY and NIMBY movements and the role of cryptocurrency in the Canadian economy. Ep 297Nothing “modest” about Trudeau’s ongoing spending spree (Ft. Franco Terrazzano)
The Liberal government once again broke the bank with a taxpayer funded spending spree which they ironically call a “budget.” This year, Canadians saw Trudeau introduce $56 billion in new spending, with an annual deficit of $52 billion and total debt reaching $1.2 trillion – or about $31,000 for every man, woman and child in Canada. Without a hint of irony, Trudeau’s loyal band of government-funded journalists told Canadians this budget was “modest”, “prudent” and even “conservative.” Today on the Candice Malcolm Show, Candice is joined by Canadian Taxpayer Federation boss Franco Terrazzano to refute Liberal talking points and explain just how reckless and ruinous this fiscal roadmap will be for all Canadians. Ep 296Arrogant Australian says Canadian Citizenship Process is “Problematic”
A woke Australian pens an opinion article in CBC complaining about how he became a Canadian citizen while peddling false information about Canada’s citizenship and immigration process. It’s Fake News Friday on the Candice Malcolm Show, and Candice is joined by True North producer Harrison Faulkner to break down all the latest fake news being peddled by the legacy media, including a wild story of a journalism association nominating a far-left rant for a news award – this, after the rant in question was thoroughly debunked by an RCMP report. You can’t make this stuff up. Plus, more Liberal journalists turn on Canada, our flag, our national symbols and our foundational principle of freedom. They say the quiet part out loud, which is that they prefer pushing woke globalist causes over defending western liberal democracy. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information. Ep 295People in BC are still being fired over Covid vaccines (Ft. Harley Sims)
While the rest of the world is moving on and learning to live with Covid, one Canadian province doesn't seem to have gotten that memo. British Columbia feels months behind when it comes to adapting to everything we know about Covid. It still enforces its draconian vaccine mandate and the government continues to fire workers for not complying with its failed mandate system. On today’s episode of the Candice Malcolm Show, Candice is joined by True North Senior Editor and Civil Liberties Reporter Harley Sims, who lives in BC and reports on these issues daily. They discuss the latest court actions and firings, why BC is so out of step, what it’s like for unvaccinated people out West and a few glimmers of hope in the fight to restore our freedoms: namely CAF veteran James Topp and his courage march across Canada. Ep 294Will the UCP in Alberta stay United? (Ft. Danielle Smith)
Last week on the Candice Malcolm Show, the former Executive Director of the United Conservative Party (UCP) Brad Tennant joined Candice to give viewers an understanding of what was happening in Alberta and the UCP leadership review from a pro-Kenney point of view. Today, we hear the other side of the story in Alberta. On this episode of the Candice Malcolm Show, Candice is joined by the former leader of the Wildrose Party and the former Leader of the Opposition in the Alberta Legislature Danielle Smith. Smith announced her return to politics last week and will be seeking the UCP nomination for the riding of Livingstone-Macleod, and to seek the leadership of the UCP if Kenney loses his review. Ep 293Is Justin Trudeau a dictator?
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is overseeing a series of significant crises in our country. Whether it’s Trudeau’s handling of the freedom convoy or his disregard for Parliament, Trudeau’s handling of these crises is dividing the country and making us weaker. But is it fair to compare Trudeau to a dictator? The legacy media and Liberal MPs don’t think so. Last week, journalists in legacy media lost their minds when a Conservative MP echoed the sentiments of many Canadians and compared Trudeau to a dictator. On this episode of the Candice Malcolm Show, we will do a comprehensive fact-check on this claim to determine whether or not Justin Trudeau is in fact a dictator. Ep 292Ontario braces for the “sixth wave”! (Ft. Sue-Ann Levy)
The Covid-hypocondriacts are pushing more fear and compliance in the face of a supposed “sixth wave” of Covid. Will we ever let it go? Or are we doomed to repeat the same dreadful Covid policy mistakes that we’ve been making for the past two years? On today’s episode of the Candice Malcolm Show, Candice is joined by True North investigative reporter and columnist Sue-Ann Levy. They talk about the fear-mongering, the failed policies, the arrogance from policy makers and the difference in policies between Florida (where Sue Ann is now) and Ontario. They also talk about out-of-touch politicians like Toronto Mayor John Tory (who Sue-Ann spotted in Palm Beach) and where there is such a backlash against them. Ep 291Woke ideology is ruining entertainment
It’s Fake News Friday on The Candice Malcolm Show! This week, Candice Malcolm and True North producer Harrison Faulkner discuss Will Smith’s violent reaction at the Oscars and highlight every thing wrong with the entertainment industry. Plus, as hundreds of people attended Conservative leadership candidate Pierre Poilievre’s campaign events, a former Liberal MP came up with a bizarre conspiracy that photos of the large crowds were somehow photoshopped. And the Parliamentary Budget Officer debunked Liberal talking points about the carbon tax rebate scheme, revealing that 8 in 10 families would experience a net loss from Trudeau’s tax grab. Ep 290An insider’s view on the political situation in Alberta
If you listen to the legacy media, you could be forgiven for thinking that Premier Jason Kenney’s days in office are numbered. But is that really true? On today’s episode of the Candice Malcolm Show, Candice is joined by former United Conservative Party (UCP) executive director and longtime conservative activist in Alberta Brad Tennant. They discuss Kenney’s leadership review, why the vote was changed from in person to a mail-in ballot, why so many Albertans were so opposed to the province’s covid measures, infighting in the UCP and Kenney’s pathway to survival. Ep 289Trudeau doubles down on his failed climate schemes
This week, the Trudeau government unveiled a new set of unrealistic emissions reduction targets, which includes a plan to cut emissions by 40% by the year 2030 and measures targeting Canada’s oil and gas sector. Despite the fact that their climate schemes have failed time and time again, the government is doubling down and making life more expensive for all Canadians. Is there an alternative to Trudeau’s radical approach? Can Canada create a realistic climate plan that prioritizes our economy while protecting our natural environment? On this episode of The Candice Malcolm Show, Candice is joined by economics professor Dr. Ross McKitrick from the University of Guelph. Candice and Dr. McKitrick discuss Trudeau’s failed climate schemes, the myths of the climate movement and the alternative approaches that Canada should consider. Ep 288Should the Conservatives embrace populism?
Canadians are feeling the effects of big government and a Liberal party that always thinks it knows best. Canadians are seeing a growing nanny state, astronomical debt and bureaucratic busy-bodies getting in the way of jobs and growth. All the while, it seems Trudeau is never really held accountable. Could this be an opportunity for the Conservatives? On today’s episode of The Candice Malcolm Show, Candice is joined by Ben Woodfinden. Ben is a writer and contributor to the National Post and the Hub Magazine. He argues that it’s time for the Conservatives to embrace populism and go after “Canada’s elite gatekeepers.” See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information. Learn more about your ad choices. Ep 287Introducing a new True North Contributor: Samuel Sey
True North is pleased to welcome our newest journalist and contributor Sam Sey! Today on the Candice Malcolm Show, Candice welcomes Samuel to the podcast and to True North. Sameul is a scholar and writer living in the GTA who focuses on critiquing and exposing Critical Race Theory and so-called anti-racism. Anti-racism sounds innocuous, but, as Sam explains, it is a racist and pernicious force that insists that race and group identity matter more than a person’s character or abilities. It seeks to divide our society and promotes hate and resentment rather than cohesion and pluralism. Anti-racists advocate in favour of racist discrimination, and go so far as to accuse Civil Rights champions like Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. of being “white supremacists.” Canadians need to learn the facts about Critical Race Theory so we can stop it from seeping into our education system and prevent awful bills, like Bill 67 in Ontario, from being passed into law. True North has brought on Samuel to do just that – expose this racist ideology and give parents the tools they need to stop it. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information. Ep 286Trudeau gets what’s coming to him in Europe
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau goes to Brussels to lecture the world about democracy and gets absolutely roasted by European politicians for his treatment of the freedom convoy. Lucky for Trudeau, his friends in the media continue to try to cover for him.Plus, the legacy media’s fake news narrative about the freedom convoy continues to fall part as Ottawa Police confirm the arson attempt had nothing to do with the convoy. It’s Fake News Friday on The Candice Malcolm! Ep 285Masks don’t do anything. Stop wearing them.
Whether it was the obsessive rules about masking, punitive vaccine mandates or the bullying tactics used against the unvaccinated, Canada’s Covid policies were characterized by repeated failures. The public health advice was confusing, hypocritical, hectoring and oftentimes, completely counter to what we knew about the virus. It was opposed to scientific knowledge. Today on the Candice Malcolm Show, Candice is joined by Dr. Matt Strauss, the Medical Officer of Health for Haldimand Norfolk and an ICU doctor at Guelph General Hospital. Dr. Strauss wrote a recent opinion piece he wrote on a comprehensive scientific study on the limitations of masks – especially cloth masks. They talk about the repeated failed approaches to Covid, the limitations of vaccines, the bullying tactics used in the media against people with dissenting opinions (including Dr. Strauss!) and the many unintended consequences of our failed policies. Ep 284Are massive tax hikes coming? (Ft. Pierre Poilievre)
Did Justin Trudeau and Jagmeet Singh form their coalition pact to avoid a fiscal collapse? Today on the Candice Malcolm Show, Candice is joined by Conservative MP Pierre Poilievre. Back in September 2020, Pierre predicted on this show that Canada’s fiscal situation was mathematically impossible and heading towards a collapse. He said that Trudeau desperately needed a majority government to hide his scandal and to raise taxes to afford his COVID spending binge. Candice and Pierre revisit that prediction, talk about what this Liberal-NDP pact means for Canadians – especially working class Canadians – and why Canada has become so expensive. Ep 283Candice Malcolm reacts to new NDP-Liberal Pact
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh have reached a new agreement, which would see the NDP prop up the Liberals to ensure Trudeau remains Prime Minister until 2025. The agreement will see the NDP support the government during confidence votes and budgetary matters in exchange for Liberal support of some key NDP initiatives. Ep 282Canada collapsed during Covid. Here’s how we fix it. (Ft. Irvin Studin)
One of the great paradoxes of our time is that the leaders who recklessly plunged us into a two-year covid-induced mania and who tore apart our economy and our social fabric, are now the same very people empowered to bring us back. Canada needs to come up with a serious and credible plan to move past covid, end all covid era mandates and restrictions, to get our economy back on track but also, to begin to address the considerable harm done to our social fabric by the unprecedented government overreach of the past two years. Today on The Candice Malcolm Show, Candice is joined by one of one of the leading international policy thinkers in Canada – Irvin Studin. Candice and Irvin discuss how Canada can recover from the effects of the pandemic, the escalating crisis in Ukraine and what it means for Canadians, and much more. Tune into the Candice Malcolm Show. Ep 281Justin Trudeau’s ‘edgy’ diplomatic efforts embarrass us all
Canada’s diplomatic mission has resorted to immature online trolling of the Russian. Rather than hold the Trudeau government accountable, the legacy media cheer on these embarrassing efforts. It’s Fake News Friday on the Candice Malcolm Show, and Candice is joined by True North journalist Harrison Faulkner to discuss the biggest fake news of the week. This includes a former radio host clipping a video out of context to pretend that Conservative Leader Candice Bergan doesn’t support Ukraine, when in fact her words of support go beyond what even Trudeau has said. They also discuss the revelation that the Hunter Biden laptop story is indeed true, proving that the legacy media calls fake news ‘real news’ and real news ‘fake news.’ Finally, they detail a CBC story showing how Canada’s Governor General not only politicize a position that is supposed to be above politics, but also tries to project her deranged left-wing ideology onto the Queen. Ep 280Equity is the opposite of equality, and it has no place in our schools (Ft. Barbara Kay)
Today on the Candice Malcolm Show, Candice is joined by journalist and columnist Barbara Kay to discuss Ontario’s Bill 67 – which seeks to steep the education system in a radical leftist ideology. Bill 67 focuses on Critical Race Theory, contending that Canada is a white supremacist society and the only way to make things more fair is through so called “anti-racist” discrimination. According to Barbara, this explicitly racist ideology will punish and divide all students while fomenting hate and resentment amongst various groups. The worst part of all is that this bill was introduced by Doug Ford’s Conservative government and even originally endorsed by an independent conservative MPP. This demonstrates the broader problem – that the bill is a wolf in sheep’s clothing. It sounds innocuous and reasonable, but the opposite is true. Canadians need to pay more attention and get more involved to ensure that racist divisions aren’t imposed into our schools. Candice and Barbara also talk about Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, and how he’s managed to stay in power for so long. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information. Ep 279It’s open season for harassment, hate and even violence against Russians
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau used to talk a good game about protecting the Charter Rights of all Canadians – even when it’s unpopular. He threw those values out the window during Covid, when he suspended many charter rights and regularly scapegoated and dehumanized the unvaccinated. There’s a new category of people who have been “de-personed” in our society: Russians. Today on the Candice Malcolm Show, Candice is joined by National Post columnist Rupa Subramanya to discuss the recent attacks against Russians in the West and in some cases the lifting of their basic rights and protections. They also discuss the media climate where politicians like Trudeau and his deputy PM Chrystia Freeland face next to no scrutiny from the legacy media. Why don’t journalists question Freeland’s political activism in Ukraine? Is her role with the left-wing World Economic Forum a conflict of interest? Instead of investigating and asking tough questions of our leaders, too many legacy media journalists play defence for our leaders. Candice and Rupa discuss the negative impact this has on our democracy. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Ep 278INTERFERENCE: Freeland’s office “pressured” legacy media to change critical stories
The legacy media in Canada is every bit as dishonest and corrupted as you and I suspect. Last month when True North broke the story of Deputy PM Chrystia Freeland holding a Nazi banner at a Ukrainian rally in Toronto, a handful of legacy media reporters picked up our scoop. Most wrote their stories according to Freelend’s Liberal spin – that Freeland had done nothing wrong, the any critics of the Liberals were spreading “Russian disinformation” and that True North’s journalists were to blame for writing this story. So much for holding a powerful politician accountable for her reckless actions. The legacy media didn’t even bother to point out the hypocrisy given that the Liberals accused the Conservatives of “standing with those who wave Swastikas” at the Trucker rally. One rare and honest legacy media story came from iPolitics, who accurately recounted the events and blamed Freeland for her blunder. Interestingly, a few hours later, iPolitics issued a “correction” and changed the tone of the story to reflect the legacy media groupthink. Blame should not be aimed at the powerful woman holding the Nazi banner, it should be aimed at those talking about it! True North has learned that the “correction” was issued after interference from Freeland’s office – who “pressured” iPolitics to change the story. The Liberals said “jump”, the legacy media ask “how high?” This caused the reporter who wrote the original story, Rachel Emmanuel, to resign out of principle. She now writes for the independent outlet the Western Standard, and she wrote an opinion column describing the ordeal. Today on the Candice Malcolm Show, Candice is joined by Rachel Emmanuel, who recounts the story and talks about the fundamental problems facing the media and why trust in journalists is at an all time low. Ep 277Modern leftist feminism is making everyone miserable
Modern leftist feminism is one of the most perverse and harmful forces in our society. It tells men that they are “toxic” and need to be more like women, meanwhile, it tells women to be liberated and act more like men.The result? Both men and women – but especially women – are self-reportedly more miserable and less fulfilled than at any previous time, according to comprehensive meta data studies. On today’s episode of the Candice Malcolm Show, Candice is joined by one of Canada’s leading public intellectuals, retired professor Janice Fiamengo. They discuss the many, many problems with modern leftist feminism and discuss alternative advice and guidance for young people. They also talk about the strange phenomenon of women’s college swimming superstar Lia Thomas, who has shattered pool records this year. Lia, as you may know, has the distinct advantages of being a biological male. Dr. Fiamengo clearly explains how we got to this bizarre place in our society. Ep 276Out with the Canadian flag, in with the Ukrainian one
It’s a special LIVE edition of Fake News Friday on the Candice Malcolm Show! Candice is joined by True North journalist Harrison Faulkner to break down all the worst media spin and dishonesty of the week. They talk about how many legacy media journalists have turned on the Canadian flag – admitting that they feel triggered seeing it and that it now represents the Freedom Convoy (apparently that’s a bad thing). Meanwhile, many of these same journalists have no trouble rallying around Ukraine – changing their profiles and adding the Blue and Yellow flag to their Twitter bios. But, unfortunately for these journalists, we keep seeing more and more ties to neo-Nazi groups embedded inside the Ukrainian military. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information. Ep 275Trudeau’s cringy Operation Photo-Op continues
For the past week Justin Trudeau and three of his senior cabinet ministers have been touring Europe, taking lots of photos and lecturing the world about “democratic values.” In the UK, Trudeau was met with massive protests and negative press. In Latvia he was oddly grinning ear-to-ear while standing next to Canada's military. And, in Germany, Trudeau told world leaders that in a democracy, people need to listen and have respect for those who hold "different political views." On this episode of The Candice Malcolm Show, Candice breaks down the unbelievable gaslighting and very worst moments of Trudeau's European photo-op tour. Ep 274Canada's legacy media is bought and paid for
The Trudeau government has stuffed the pockets of Canada's legacy media over the years by providing them with bailouts and other taxpayer handouts that have destroyed the objectivity and credibility of some of Canada's biggest media outlets. For Canadians to get a real understanding of what's happening, they have to look to outlets like True North or the foreign press. On today's live episode of The Candice Malcolm Show, Candice will discuss how Trudeau successfully bought the media and Candice will also be taking your questions. Ep 273Protecting your political freedoms (ft. MP Garnett Genuis)
So many Canadians were disheartened and dismayed by the doxxing and firing of donors who had financially supported the Trucker Convoy. Today on the Candice Malcolm Show, Candice is joined by a Conservative Member of Parliament trying to change that. Alberta MP Garnett Genuis introduced a private members bill last week to amend the Canadian Human Rights Act to protect Canadians from discrimination due to political beliefs or actions. The bill would create federal protections for those fired or harassed by their employers or the government for engaging in a political protest or donating to a political cause. They also discuss the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, and Garnett’s perspective as a member of Canada’s Parliamentary NATO Association. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information. Ep 272Preston Manning: Trucker Convoy was a legitimate expression of concern
On today’s episode of the Candice Malcolm Show, Candice is joined by Former Leader of the Opposition Preston Manning, to discuss the trucker convoy, populism and his advice for all Canadians in the post-Covid era. Manning says the Trucker Convoy was a “legitimate, bottom-up political protest” and that the Trudeau government’s handling of it was “an extreme overreaction and a deliberate misinterpretation of what they were trying to do.” “There is rumbling in the federal Liberals already that Trudeau has to go,” said Manning in regards to his overall handling of Covid and unwillingness to adapt to the rapidly changing political environment. Ep 271Everyone who disagrees with me is a KGB propagandist
It’s Fake News Friday on the Candice Malcolm Show, and Candice and True North journalist Harrison Faulkner break down the worst of the worst of biased media and pro-war propaganda. While the legacy media insist the situation is black and white, and that anyone saying anything skeptical of the news coverage or about any Ukrainian is a Putin-shill or pushing Russian KGB disinformation. We reject that idea. Two things can be true at the same time. Putin is an aggressor, a tyrant and a war criminal. Also. Ukraine has sketchy elements that shouldn’t be ignored and that Canada’s Deputy PM Chrystia Freeland shouldn’t support. The legacy media continues to show Canadians that they cannot be trusted to report the truth. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information. Learn more about your ad choices. Ep 270National Post whitewashes a Nazi slogan to defend Chrystia Freeland
Just how far will the legacy media go to defend Chrystia Freeland and the Liberals? Freeland recently posted – and then deleted – a photo of herself at a Ukrainian rally in Toronto holding a black and red flag representative of a militant Neo-Nazi movement in Ukraine. The banner represents the Bandera movement – Bandera was a literal Nazi who helped carry out Hilter’s holocaust in Ukraine by murdering over 100,000 Jews and Poles. The legacy media didn’t cover Freeland’s colossal misstep – True North did. But now, three days later, multiple legacy media outlets finally got around to covering the story. But, get this: rather than holding Freeland accountable for this reckless move, instead these articles seek to hold True North accountable for the crime of reporting it. They smeared us as “unwittingly participating” in Russian disinformation. The lowest of the low was the National Post, once considered Canada’s last bastion of conservative thought in the legacy media. I kid you not, the National Post quoted some “expert” minimizing and whitewashing the concept of “blood and soil” – the most prominent and despicable Nazi slogan. You can’t make this stuff up. What a sad, pathetic new low for Canada’s bailout media. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Ep 269The ‘defund the police’ movement is dead
US President Joe Biden has announced the end of Covid and took direct aim at the ‘defund the police’ movement. Will Canada follow suit? During Biden’s gaffe-filled State of the Union address, the US President threatened to punish Russia, celebrated the fact that the US was mask-free and encouraged MORE funding for the police. On this episode of The Candice Malcolm Show, True North’s Candice Malcolm breaks down Biden’s State of the Union address and what this means for Canada. She says Canada’s decision-makers can learn a lot from the President’s moderate tone when it comes to Covid and support for police. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information. Ep 268The fog of war takes over Ukraine
The war between Russia and Ukraine is being played out across social media feeds and news headlines. The battle is as much about influencing public opinion and winning over hearts and minds as it is about gaining territory. Over the past few days, Canadians have been inundated with propaganda from both sides. Is what you see on Twitter and Facebook accurate and real? On today’s episode of The Candice Malcolm Show, Candice cuts through the propaganda and does a deep dive on what’s really going on in Ukraine. She exposes the absurd double standard of Chrystia Freeland holding a Ukrainian banner that represents a Nazi movement, and the legacy media’s refusal to cover this story. Ep 267Trudeau’s international reputation will never be the same
A major part of Justin Trudeau’s appeal to progressive voters in Canada is his international reputation as a liberal golden boy. But Trudeau’s use of war-time measures to crack down a peaceful working class protest has shattered that image. It made him look weak, hypocritical, petty and mean. How can Trudeau lecture serial human-rights-abuses in countries like China and Iran when he used force and froze the bank accounts of political dissidents at home? Those countries are already mocking him and pointing out the double standard. On today’s episode of the Candice Malcolm Show, Candice is joined by lawyer and human rights activist Kaveh Shahrooz to discuss just how badly this damaged Trudeau’s reputation – abroad and at home.
