George Peabody, known as the Father of American Philanthropy, donated 1/2 of his fortune throughout his life to education, feeding the needy, and fighting poverty. This episode dives into the history of the Peabody Education Fund, the first modern nonprofit started in the USA. There are also some interesting tidbits about earlier charitable groups and the history of nonprofits as well in this one.
