S3 Ep 136The four-day work week: a step closer to reality?

The concept of the four-day working week has been around for almost a century, but like the idea of working from home which needed a pandemic to make happen, the four-day week concept hasn’t really taken off in Australia until recently.    Researchers have found a four-day work week without a pay cut improves both productivity and a sense of wellbeing, less stress and burnout, and a better work-life balance among workers.    Joe O’Connor is the CEO of 4 Day Week Global who’s running a huge trial in the UK. Joe joins us on The Briefing to talk about the possibility of a four-day week taking off in Australia.   Today's Headlines Minimum wage decision imminent RBA warns of more rate pain + sharemarket spirals Power companies on notice Airport mask mandate lifted  Follow The Briefing DON'T FORGET TO SIGN UP FOR THE BRIEFING NEWSLETTER. S3 Ep 110Intermittent fasting: myth or genius hack

Intermittent fasting is an eating plan that switches between fasting and eating on a regular schedule.   It’s touted as a way to manage your weight and prevent — or even reverse — some forms of disease.    Professor Lauren Williams, a nutritionist and dietician from Griffith University joins us to explain the first big-time intermittent fasting diet was the 5-2 diet, where you eat restricted calories for two days…on the other five you eat what you like…but keep calories pretty low.  These days there’s 16-8, where you don’t eat at ALL for 16 hours….and only eat between say, 10am and 6pm….outside that window, you’re fasting.   Some people swear by it, others say it simply didn't work.   So, in this episode of The Briefing, is intermittent fasting a myth, or a genius hack.    Todays Headlines LNP defends housing policy PM could continue leading LNP following election loss Chris Dawson: Defence heard for the first time North Korea admits Covid is out of control   Follow The Briefing DON'T FORGET TO SIGN UP FOR THE BRIEFING NEWSLETTER. S3 Ep 101Everything you need to know about Roe v Wade

A 50 year old US federal law guaranteeing the right to abortion could be overturned.  The draft Supreme Court ruling would strike down the 1973 Roe v Wade case – and would see abortion become a state issue.  A draft finding has been leaked to the press.     Damien Cave, the New York Times’ Australian correspondent, joins us to explain what Roe v Wade is, and what this latest decision means for Americans. President Joe Biden warns if it is handed down, the ruling could jeopardise other rights including same-sex marriage and access to contraception.    As many as 26 states are expected to enact partial or total abortion bans if Roe falls - that’s half the country – so it’s going to have a massive impact in the US no matter which way the Supreme Court votes.   Todays Headlines Albanese stumbles again  Chinese boots could outnumber Australia’s in Solomon Islands  WHO almost triples pandemic death toll  Toddler left on bus remains in intensive care Ukraine sets up crowdfunding platform   Follow The Briefing DON'T FORGET TO SIGN UP FOR THE BRIEFING NEWSLETTER.
