Show Notes

Why do brides traditionally wear white?

Many of us probably think the tradition of a white wedding dress is longer than it really is. Some argue it is just 80 years old! It is so synonymous with weddings it's hard to believe that could be true. Queen Victoria is most often credited for starting the trend, but there is evidence that in Rome over 2,000 years ago a white tunic was worn by most brides.

White is now the overwhelming choice for most American brides, a sort of bridal uniform. It has become an iconic symbol of weddings.
