Show Notes
Welcome to The Borne Podcast, a deep dive into the world of pregnancy, birth, and beyond. Here, Professor Mark Johnson presents a special episode of The Borne Podcast to mark World Prematurity Day 2025. In this episode Mark is joined by the newest patron of Borne, Her Royal Highness Princess Beatrice, and by Borne’s newest ambassador, the meteorologist and Good Morning Britain’s weather presenter Laura Tobin.
Preterm birth is when a baby is born before 37 weeks. It’s the leading cause of serious health complications and death in young children around the world. Preterm birth is not rare. It affects 1 in 13 babies in the UK. And yet, progress in preventing premature birth has stalled. This is why our work at Borne matters. This World Prematurity Day, we’re shining a light on the research that can change the future. Together, we can fund the research needed to protect the tiniest lives because every week counts, every moment matters, and every baby deserves the healthiest start possible.
Borne is a medical research charity dedicated to uniting scientists and doctors in advancing our understanding of pregnancy, identifying risks of preterm birth, and developing groundbreaking treatments to prevent it.
