EP #59 P2 - Mass Trails Scene Report
This week's podcast is Part 2 of 3 of the Massachusetts Trails Scene Report. In this week podcast you will hear from Chris Traverse of the Sunset Ranch Trails and Dwayne Scruton of the MOD Trails. Each on the opposite ends Massachusetts. These two couldn't be more polarizing on the surface but carry the same passion. Next week, Part 3, Oakwoods and Pinewoods Trails. This has been a cool journey visiting these guys and learning what the go through each year, the good and not so good. Yet they survive! Once again, thank you Powers Bike Shop for supporting the show and helping it carry itself. www.powersbikeshop.com

EP #59 P1 - Mass Trails Scene Report
Episode #59 - Part 1 of 3 The Massachusetts Trail Scene Report Trying something different for the next three weeks that I believe you will love. Pretty much the same 10-12 questions for each of the lead Trail guys with far different answers from each. I personally though it was so interesting how underground BMX Trails can be. As Van Homan said in his interview with me, inline skaters are the most core people he sees out riding park. I was thinking the same thing when I visited a few trails that are private and only open to close friends because that is all they need for fun. No exposure, no recognition and no worry. Just having fun. So anyway, this weeks kicks off with the Al of the Tully Trails and Jay Bych of the GMT Trails. So different than each other and so amazing in their own ways. Until next week, enjoy! Once again, thank you to Chad at Powers Bike Shop for supporting these missions up and down the East Coast! www.powerbikeshop.com Anyone interested in sponsoring the inadvertently fastest growing BMX podcast, please let me know! Thanks for listening! Joe

Episode #58 - Brandon Christie
Brandon Christie, a Massachusetts legend at only 30 years old! Everyone I know talks about how nice a guy Brandon is so I had to see it for myself....and they are right! Really cool to learn as much as I could about Brandon and where life has taken him. I see lots of trail riders each year and I do my best to get to know as many of them as I can. There is so much more to Brandon then 1080's so listen and learn! Thank you everyone for supporting the show, by donation or shirt sales on www.thebmxinourblood.com or in the case of Powers Bike shop, sponsoring the show. Always support those who support the sport!

Episode #57 - Chris Hald & Bill Klein
I've always enjoyed interviewing long time BMX friends and brothers. They know each other well and push each other to keep the fire alive. Chris Hald and Bill Klein to do exactly that and are both extremely talented riders. So get your kids to bed or out of the car and hit this one hard! So many laughs that I quickly forgot about the bone fractures from an hour before we started. We had to get our laps in at Keyko and celebrate the birthday of John Skvarla! It's become an awesome tradition. Afterwards the guys chaired me out of the woods like pro surfers carry the winner out of the water, all the great friends made me feel like a brother, not a trail victim. They brought me to the Super BMX studio where we added to the history of John's studio by recording the 4th interview in this amazing space. Thank you all for hanging out and watching the podcast unfold. For the record, this is the first time I'm posting an interview with zero editing. I feel this one should be posted raw because it needs zero clean up. This is how the Level 4 crew works best! So enjoy and if you haven't yet found a friendship that is a real as this one, keep looking! Once again, thank you Nuno Olivera for the podcast announcement, Brian Iarocci for the website work and Chad of Powers Bike Shop for the support. Support those that support good things. Check out www.thebmxinourblood.com for long sleeve and short sleeve shirts available to ship worldwide! Or you can donate to the podcast at any level. Thank you!

Episode #56 - Powers Bike Shop
The Powers Bike Shop episode was recorded at the DIY World Championships in Richmond, VA at Powers Bike Shop. I mention this because this is how BMX can flourish, bike shops being part of the community. Chad Powers is quite a success story. Always an entrepreneur, Chad has created a successful business because of his passion for the sport. Passion well beyond day to day business. Whether you see it in his passion for collecting BMX history or by supporting and facilitating BMX events, Chad is gladly committed to BMX because he truly loves it. If you ever want to see tangible BMX history, make Powers Bike Shop a destination in your travels. As you will hear in the interview, Chad has his mind set on preserving BMX history in a museum setting. I believe that once you are done with this interview listen, you will have confidence that it will happen. As always, support those who support the sport. www.powersbikeshop.com www.dvidebrand.com www.fbmbmx.com www.profileracing.com Thank you Chad for supporting #thebmxinourblood www.thebmxinourblood.com or at @gromdad2000 on IG

Episode #55 - Big Boy of the Scotty Cranmer Channel
If I was to make a list of the qualities I would look for in a friend Big Boy of the Scotty Cranmer YouTube Channel could check off nearly every box. In addition, Big Boy has completely transformed himself physically into the healthiest version of himself by dropping over 125 pounds by focusing on exercise and diet. Oh, and he can ride a bike better than most in the few short years he has been off the scooter. Front flip off of a building?! Yes. Flairs on command? Yes. Most importantly, a solid friend that would do anything for you? Absolutely. Most of you all know the Scotty Cranmer story but most likely not from his Big Boy's perspective. This is a part 1 of 2 podcast because Big Boy really wants to answer questions from followers the next time we meet up and I am all for it. So enjoy the podcast and think about what friendship means to you. You can find more about Big Boy by simply searching for the Scotty Cranmer YouTube Channel. As always, thank you to Chad at www.powersbikeshop.com for sponsoring the podcast and Big Boy's sponsors www.cultcrew.com and www.theshadowconspiracy.com among others. Always keep an eye on Powers Bike shop for www.thebmxinourblood.com giveaways to loyal listeners. Just like and tag a friend!

Episode #54 - Keith Mulligan
Thank you Keith Mulligan! If you haven't said these words to Keith at some point, send him a message and do it now! Between being part of BMX for 37 years as a rider and over 20 years in BMX media, Keith has touched all of us in some way. As a BMX friend, photographer, writer and mentor, Keith is amazing. All of that in addition to being part of Bikes Over Baghdad for years. Enjoy the podcast as he talks about all of it!

Episode #53 - Credence Clint Reynolds
Clint Reynolds. I might have pushed to the point of annoying for this podcast with Clint. Sometimes that backfires and the interview isn't what you had hoped for any number of reasons. This was not the case with Clint at all. It ended up being an interview that I feel really good about! Part of the reason is you all, the listeners, who gave me plenty of questions to work with and Clint for keeping it relaxed. Thank you! Clint and I talked about all of the changes in his life this past year and how he has balanced it the best he can. Clint is such an amazingly modest guy that would clearly give you the shirt off of his back. Combine that with his mechanical intelligence, amazing skills on the bike and perseverance and you end up with an amazing private skate/bmx park at his house and loads of other of DIY projects. Oh, and he happens to think well under pressure when he finds a black bear in his bowl while giving me the tour! Thank you Clint for making the time for this old man fan of everything you do. Enjoy the interview everyone and thank you for the continued support and thank you Powers Bike Shop for helping support the show and helping it move forward. Chicago soon? Maybe! Please support those that support riders like Clint and many more... www.sandmbmx.com www.empirebmx.com @relicbmx And of course, thank you for helping the show out by donating or buying a shirt through www.thebmxinourblood.com where you can catch past episodes. Big thanks to Brian Iarocci for helping with the site, Nuno Olivera for the podcast announcement graphics each and every week and Tasha Lindemann of TJL Photo for creating the podcast logo!

Episode #52 - Jamie Cooper - Ellis
Episode #52! One full year of weekly podcasts complete, hard to believe. Couldn't be happier to have Jamie Cooper-Ellis as my closer for the 1 year anniversary podcast. He represents the exact reason of why I started the podcast, to highlight East Coast riders and give them as much exposure as possible. Jamie is no secret to the BMX world but the story he tells of farm life and how he overcomes the geographical challenges of being a successful rider living in the Northeast is pretty amazing. As always support those who support the sport and the riders. Jamie is on flow from Haro and NE Bad Boys so we know he doesn't really need the money! So enjoy the episode and have a great week! www.harobikes.com @northeastbadboys www.thebmxinourblood.com

Episode #51 - Satoski Enda - Trail Rider Of The Year
Episode #51! One more until our podcast 1 year birthday. When I 1st picked up on Satoski Enda I was so impressed with his dedication to BMX trail riding and building. I have been waiting until his annual trip to Catty Woods and Posh Trails so I could interview the original Trails Warrior. It was worth the wait because in the meantime he won the Ride BMX NORA Cup Trail Rider of the year just a few weeks ago! Very deserving candidate and grateful winner. Special thanks to @danruhe for opening your home to me for the podcast recording and supplying the IPA that mysteriously kept being replaced as each one was emptied. I think a certain Japanese friend of Satoski's was showing the respect that is part of Japanese tradition. Can't beat that but it might beat you! Thank you Satoski (@trailswarrior on IG) for giving the podcast a go even though you were concerned about the language barrier, you did awesome! As you will hear on the podcast I presented a repurposed NBL Christmas Classic trophy with a "Trail Rider of the Year" name plate on it that I presented to Satoski with a Japanese bow that was deep enough to make him an Emperor. If you want to see the award and the comical presentation look for the pics on my IG, @gromdad2000 Once again, thank you to @powersbikeshop for sponsoring the show. Be sure to follow the instructions at the beginning of the podcast to win a new seat compliments of Powers Bike Shop in honor of Satoski's legendary duct taped decade old throne that he has no intentions of replacing. Have a great week everyone!

Episode #50 - Van Homan
Van Homan as my 50th episode! For this occasion @nuno_oliveira (of Odyssey) did a special podcast announcement using gold to honor the 50th episode, I am truly honored that Nuno has helped with the podcast graphics as well as @brianiarocci with the www.thebmxinourblood.com website! Anyway, 2 more episodes and I'll have 52 weeks straight of interviews! So back to Van, he has been so passionate, diverse and talented for years. And he just won the BMX Legend NORA Cup! In this episode Van talks about his big move to Japan for the next two years to work for Tokyo 2020 in preparation for BMX in the Olympics. What a great choice. Van continues to kill it on the bike at 38 years old and works as a judge at UCI and other events around the world. We also talk about the success of the Uncovered BMX series this past winter with @bkachinsky For these reasons and more I believe Van will do an awesome job helping steer the ship for Olympic Freestyle and ultimately get more kids on bikes due to the huge Olympic exposure. Wish Van all the best as he takes on this job that gives him a great opportunity to use his experience with BMX to do the best he can. With over 25 years in the sport, I'm sure Van will do a great job. Please support Van's sponsors that support him and the sport! @fitbikeco @bellbikehelmets @duobrand @gsportbmx @uncoveredbmx @rivercityleather And a huge thanks to @powersbikeshop supporting the podcast and the BMX community. Don't forget to tag a friend on the Powers IG when the post the podcast on their IG! You could win a Van Homan Fit Stem!

Episode #49 - Mike Maloney Custom Frame Builder
What a great day interviewing and riding with Mike Maloney (Defconfour on IG)my good friend Don Bunnell from years ago. Mike is an awesome talent that works custom frame building into his spare time. He has produced some beautiful bikes including one we didn't get to talk about, a belt drive bike! Also cranks and hubs! Don sat in on the interview and talked history like only an old timer can ;) Look for the pictures on my @gromdad2000 IG account. So not only can he fab a frame really well but he can ride all wheel size bikes and well. Anyway, this was just the kind of day I needed and came home from Central Jersey with a big smile on my face! If you have interest in a custom of any size you can message Mike Maloney on IG at @defconfour Also, thank you Chad at www.powersbikeshop.com for the continued support of the podcast. Much appreciated. Any other potential sponsors looking to be part of the podcast, let me know at [email protected] or @gromdad2000 on IG.

Episode #48 - Posh High Air Contest
What a weekend with the induction of Brian Foster to the BMX HOF and Satoski Enda as the Nora Cup winner for best trail rider. If you haven't listened to the BF interview do yourself a favor and do it. Perfect lead up to last night's ceremony. Also, Satoski will be interviewed in about 2 weeks! I hadn't been to the Posh High Air Contests and didn't want to miss this year! Glad I didn't! The low key Ever Peacock hit the high notes on his way to winning BOTH high air and best whip! Haven't seen that dramatic of a double since Todd Lyons reminded us again on IG of how awesome he is/was at the Orlando Worlds 25+ years ago! Just kidding Turbo, you are the man and killing the goal of getting people on bikes. Much respect. So this contest report show has me meandering around the Posh trails and finishes with the opinion of Derek Witt of the Oakwood Trails who watched it online and gave me his version of the wrap-up of the event since I didn't record one there. Thanks Derek! Be at Derek's Oakwoods Trails for their jam on 9/29 in West Brookfield, MA! Please support the sponsors who support the sport and this podcast, www.powersbikeshop.com Powers will be shipping out the winner of last week's secret word flub up to Jerret Bellamy! Also, supporters of Posh Woods (and Catty Woods) www.sandmbmx.com www.fitbikeco.com and Credence through the IG of Clint Reynolds @credence_bikes You can also find TNT products that I mention in the podcast along with everything else TNT makes at most major shops as well at through TNT on FB and IG at TNT Bicycles. Where are you Blue Apron and Zip Recruiter? Over 100,000 downloads and climbing.

Episode #47 PT 2 - Brian Foster
Brian Foster Part 2! If you liked Part 1 you will love Part 2. We talk about his HOF nomination, 6 month suspension, transition to full time trail and park riding, mid school track smarts and of course the rock in his life, Dr Jennifer Foster. We also touch on some of the strong characteristics of the Strelecki family that have driven his in-law family to success. Definitely an episode that I feel really good about. The next time you see Brian Foster, give him a high 5 for his determination, staying power and relevancy that he seems to have naturally along with a laid back disposition. Also, big thanks to www.powerbikeshop.com for stepping up to sponsor the show, I'm extremely grateful for that. This show sponsor along with a few more in the works will allow me to take the show on the road even more and farther. I have some big goals that will happen! So please give Powers a shot when ordering online or at their shop, races and events like the DIY World Championships at Powers Bike on October 20th put on by www.digbmx.com and www.fbmbmx.com! Direct message me with that word/acronym and you'll be entered!***

Episode #47 PT 1 - Brian Foster
Brian Foster Part 1...who would have guessed anyone could nail down BF let alone for over 4-1/2 hours. I feel pretty damn grateful and honored. We talked about everything from family to education to BMX, of course. These interviews are pretty loose so it allowed BF to digress at will. That made the interview really relaxed to say the least. Next week's episode (Part 2) things get even more entertaining as we talk about everything from the BMX Hall of Fame induction (coming up on September 8th, drugs in BMX, John Purse wrestling matches and more. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. Sorry for the cicadas noise in the background for the 1st little bit, they do go away! Have a great week! www.thebmxinourblood.com IG - Gromdad2000 FB - Joe Doherty

Episode #46 - Vinny Mannino - The Missing Minutes!
Here are the missing minutes from my podcast interview with the one and only Vinny Mannino! Sorry for the multiple tries. Had a hard time but finally figured out the best way to do get it to you all!

Episode #46.1 - Vinny Mannino (Repost to fix missing minutes)
Repost to include the missing last 40 minutes of Episode #46 Sorry everyone, not sure what went wrong. Forward to 2:42:31 for the last part of the interview. Thanks!

Episode #46 - Vinny Mannino
Vinny Mannino has to be the most unassuming killer on and off of a BMX bike. He can ride anything, educate you on anything investment related, coach bmx kids, does BMX shows and has a deep appreciation of his family (his father and Big Scott Cranmer are two of my favorite guys). He really is a pleasure to talk to. Although he is a major part of the Scotty Cranmer YouTube channel, Vinny is very much his own man. If you want a sincere pair of ears to listen to, he is your man. He actually understands why God gave us two ears and one mouth for a reason. I'm fortunate to have him as a friend since we first me last year and I'm sure the YouTube channel guys and the public feel the same way. Enjoy the podcast and be sure to check out the links for his newest project, Strive Action Sports. Vinny is out there making a difference for kids and adults alike. Episode #45 - Colton Civitello
Episode #45 - Colton Civitello by Interviews with the BMX community

Episode #44 - Russ Barone And Kenny Hirsch
This week I took a quick trip down to Long Island to interview another one of the best, Russ Barone. I had asked if Russ's best friend Kenny Hirsch could sit in, and wow, I'm grateful it worked out. This podcast ended up being a shared podcast with the two of them. As you will hear, they wouldn't have it any other way. Don't say the words, "I can't do it" in front in front of Kenny. He give you 101 great reasons why "you can". As far as Russ goes, he appreciates riding and surfing equally as well as still ripping it up for Cult BMX. He also loves to teach kids how to build and ride so look for him at the trails and the track. Anyway, nice to get back to the interviews after dedicating most of my time to the #findyourfightjam Thank you all for coming out to support the event! We did very well for Robin Robinson and the kids, could not have done it without everyone that came, sponsored, donated, volunteered or all of it! Hit up the show note links for info on organizations, employers, sponsors, etc. www.surfrider.org www.cultcrew.com www.ricerealty1.com www.powderridgepark.com www.scottycranmerbmx.com or the Scotty Cranmer YouTube channel

Episode #43 - KRob Jam Wrap Up
What a day! The Find Your Fight Jam to benefit Robin Robinson and her children was amazing. The turnout was amazing, the weather was perfect, the venue was awesome, the crowd was totally into it.....you really can't ask for more. Big thanks to Scotty Cranmer for doing his part to make the jam even more exciting and to every single rider and spectator that filled Powder Ridge up! I am filled with gratitude for each and every one of you that put made this a success. Donators, volunteers, riders from as far away as California, Powder Ridge staff...the list goes on. Till next year.... www.powderridgepark.com www.thebmxinourblood.com www.dirtsculpt.com www.scottycranmerbmx.com

Episode #42 - Find Your Fight Jam Preview
As we count down to the last days before the big annual jam I decided to record an informative podcast with a little jam history thrown in. Hope I don't bore you too much with just my voice but give it a try if you need more info on the event. This year the #findyourfightjam for the family of Kevin Robinson will very likely eclipse the past jams. For many good reasons, primarily the amount of people that are looking to help the Robinson family in some way. Another big reason is the BMX community joining the MTB community at Powder Ridge Park, the home of a new Dirt Sculpt rebuild that is drawing so many riders to try out the new terrain. So take what is helpful to you from the podcast and get out there to Powder Ridge this coming Sunday by 8am when the gates open! The link below will allow you to buy your ticket ahead of time so that you can fill out the waiver and go right to the will call window for your reserved wristband. You will be looking for the Mountain Pass or the Spectator Pass on the website link below. And don't forget the group picture in front of the contest jump line at 10am! See you Sunday! https://tickets.powderridgepark.com/powderridge/ItemList.aspx?node_id=358240

Episode #41 - Chris Hallman
Chris Hallman is a laid back guy that has been involved in more of BMX around the Country than you would ever realize because of his low key personality. Chris has been on Props tours, worked at FBM, Standard and Tread magazine while traveling around the country, basically acting on whatever option came his way. These days he is rooted in midstate as a carpenter and NY caring for the most important priority of his life, his daughter Sylvia. You will hear Sylvia having a great time swimming in the background while Chris and I talk. Chris still actively rides and at 46 is riding at a level to be proud of...in running shoes. You will hear that story in this episode. So unconventional sometimes fits as a description of Chris but so does cancer survivor, depression survivor, great father and good friend to many. Enjoy the episode and give him a shout on IG at @hallperson to let him know how much you appreciate him.

Episode #40 - Matt Coplon - Profile Racing
Episode 40, the one I stressed the most for but also looked forward to because Matt Coplon is so well read and knowledgeable in so many areas of life, many of which I'm not familiar with. After all that stressing we found that neither of us had all the answers and just more in common with our passion for BMX. So enjoy the podcast and a couple songs by Matt and his past bands, Reversal of Man and Light Yourself On Fire. You can also find Matt at www.proficeracing.com or through IG by his name. Enjoy the interview and the week!

Episode #39 Part 2 - Steve Crandall - FBM
So happy with the way part 2 turned out. Steve is such a good hearted soul that I respect tremendously. If you haven't caught Part 1, please do, it's well worth it and leads right into Part 2. In Part two you will hear everything from sobriety talk, realizing what your identity is, lots of great FBM bus talk along with a great Tag KFC salad bar story. As always, thank you for interacting and making this a community effort with your IG questions. They are always so much fun, as you will hear in this episode. Support those that support the sport and that is most definitely www.fbmbmx.com www.leastmost.com www.lastcalldistro.com

Episode 39 Part 1 - Steve Crandall - FBM
Steve Crandall, an interview I've been looking to do since I started the podcast last October. Drove down to Richmond, VA and was treated to a taste of Steve's Richmond life. In Part 1 you will hear much about FBM's history as well as Steve's history with BMX. Be sure to turn up the volume when walks a bit away from the mic to tend to dinner among other things, those are more moments you will want to hear. FBM is a lifestyle as much as it is a brand. Steve and his FBM crew of riders and employees show that consistently with FBM events and being active with the community. Beyond that Steve talks about his announcing job with Vans and how honored he is to do it. Always bringing the stoke, that is Steve and always will be. you can find Steve at: @vansbmxprocup events www.fbmbmx.com www.leastmost.com @crandallfbm on IG And of course at the #findyourfightjam at @powderridgepark on 7/29/18

Episode 38 Part 2 - Garrett Byrnes
The much anticipated Part 2 of the Garrett Byrnes interview is here! Enjoy! Thank you Garrett Byrnes for you insight and impact, much appreciated by all. As always support those that support BMX. Thanks again to www.crustbikes.com for the interview space, it was perfect. Lastly, keep July 29th open for the Find Your Fight Jam for the family of Kevin Robinson. It is shaping up to be the best fundraising event yet! Find info on the jam at www.thebmxinourblood.com along with links to past podcasts, especially Part 1 if you haven't listened to yet!

Episode 38 Part 1 - Garrett Byrnes
Garrett Byrnes. I went into this interview like most interviews, interested in the life of a BMXer but not knowing much beyond the person in the photos, documentaries, video parts, etc. This is the reason why I do it. The payoff was huge with Garrett. This is the 1st time I have split a podcast into two parts because there is so much about Garrett that I would love for you all to hear and not feel rushed. So enjoy and remember what is most important in life, you. Special thanks to Matty of www.crustbikes.com for the interview location and thank you Garrett for trusting me with your story. As always, support those that support Garrett and the sport www.terribleone.com www.etnies.com www.animalbikes.com www.digbmx.com www.profileracing.com

Episode #37 - Dave "DirtSculpt" King
Dave King has touched more dirt in his life than most gravediggers. Seriously, Dave has been a part of so many contest and park builds around the world and tells stories from some of this experiences in this podcast. Originally an Eastern PA BMX trail rider and builder, Dave has now building as a full time job for almost 10 years. When you see the X Games dirt course or a Killington jump line this year, that's Dave. He is currently on a job in Connecticut at the www.powderridgepark.com where he is rebuilding MTB courses and adding skills parks as well as a pump track. I'm fortunate to call this my venue for the #findyourfightjam for the family of Kevin Robinson on July 29th. Don't miss it! There will be a contest jump line in addition to a full park for all skill levels. For both BMX and MTB! You can find Dave at www.dirtsculpt.com or @dirtsculptllc on IG You can find the Powder Ridge Park at www.powderridgepark.com or @powderridgepark on IG. Also, check out their other venue www.brownstonepark.com or @brownstonepark on IG As always, thank you for listening!

Episode #36 - Pauly "Pirate" Cvikevich
Pauly Cvikevich, otherwise known as Pauly Pirate, is a driven guy with the best intentions. After the interview was over I just know that Pauly will reach his goal of getting kids in Kenya on BMX bikes. In the meantime he will be killing the local trails and surf spots while working hard on his Animal Series artwork and developing his philanthropic plan with Garrett Byrnes. To find Pauly for artwork or to talk about his vision go to @pauly_pirate and @theanimalseries on IG. Also, check out @arriveinkenya on IG for more info on the Kenyan village that Pauly is focused on. Keep the date aside for the "Find Your Fight" jam at Powder Ridge in Middlefield, CT. Find info on the event at www.thebmxinourblood.com or through @gromdad2000 on IG. It is going to be an amazing day for all the best reasons, to fundraise for the family of Kevin Robinson.

Episode #35 - Mike Savage
Mike Savage. We'll leave it at that. The podcast will help you interpret him in any way you choose. Lots of questions were missed because we were at 3-1/2 hours before editing so the limit had been hit. As always, please follow The BMX In Our Blood on the web at www.thebmxinourblood.com for links to any of the #35 episodes to date and information on the Find Your Fight Jam on July 29th at the Powder Ridge Bike Park in Middlefield, CT. This is a combination BMX and MTB event at a newly renovated bike park so expect a huge crowd. Please make every effort to be there as we eclipse the nearly 900 people that showed for the Scott Cranmer Jam last year in Trumbull. Also, if you have any interest in sponsoring the event in any way please contact me at [email protected] or through @gromdad2000 on IG. Thank you!

Episode #34 - Women Of BMX
The Women of BMX, six of them anyway, sat down with me one by one and discussed what BMX means to them. They spoke of camaraderie, friendships, love of the woods, battling stereotypes, using riding to overcome depression and more. The podcast idea came to me while driving to Catty Woods for their Midschool bike swap/work day. I knew there would be a strong women presence there so I surprised them with the low key interviews. Yes Andrea, I'm sneaky ;) I've thought a lot about women in BMX starting way back to Episode #1. Between interviews with Chelsea Fiets Godin, Cara Betencourt, Susie Levan and Nina Buitrago, I've always been impressed with the drive and persistence these women have in a male dominated sport. After bringing women to the Women In the Woods weekend at Catty and Posh last year and then to the Ride Like A Girl Wheel Mill weekend I was able get a look at how powerful this group is with their friendships and motivation. They fire each other up with encouragement, praise and lots of love. You will hear a lot of exactly that in this podcast. Thank you ladies for trusting me to share your thoughts and witness how awesome women riders are.

Episode #33 - Catty Woods BMX Trails
Catty Woods interview with the two mainstays of the Catty trails, Chris Janis and The Schwantz! These guys are amazing with there dedication to the trails that all of us get to enjoy. This podcast interview was recording during the mid school bike swap and dig day, the place was hopping with volunteers and vendors. Nice job Jason Lonergan for arranging the day. Many thanks to Janis and Schwantz for spending the time with me and telling the stories of Catty along with talk about how new blood needs to come forward to keep this legally legit spot going for stateside and worldwide riders. If you can afford it, send a donation their way. It will be used to help offset the insurance bill that cover Catty and Posh. Here's to a great trail season!

Episode #32 - The Potoczny Brothers
The Potoczny brothers, Mike and Mark...or is it Mark and Mike? Plenty of joking around about two of the legends of the Pittsburgh scene that continue to make their mark on the East Coast. Both have traveled extensively internationally but love Pittsburgh and will always call it home. Stories from the early days of racing South Park to creating one of the best indoor wood jump lines in the Country at The Wheel Mill in Pittsburgh where Mike works while Mark works as an accountant gathering financial information from all of their friends. Seriously, these two were a pleasure to talk to and it makes my day to have met siblings that are so tight. Enjoy and thank you for listening! Find the brothers at www.thewheelmill.com or the same on IG Support the podcast through the www.thebmxinourblood.com website or by sending me a message through @gromdad2000 on IG We now have The BMX In Our Blood stickers when you donate or buy merchandise. Lastly, don't forget the mark your calendars for the 4th annual fundraising jam on July 28/29 at the Powder Ridge Bike Park in Connecticut, this time benefitting the family of Kevin Robinson. Always looking for sponsors so let me know if you are interested!

Episode #31 - Trey Jones
Trey Jones is one passionate and determined 25 year old. He has already put down two major BMX events with Swamp Fest 1 and 2 as well as being sponsored by two major companies for over ten years combined, Cult and now Subrosa. Trey is proud to call Central Florida home and equally as proud to be a Lynyrd Skynyrd listening redneck that drives a 1979 TransAm as though he is Burt Reynolds. In the interview we cover the good, the bad and more good as we discuss the ups and downs of Swamp Fest and the responsibilites of being a pro that sometimes involve having some thick skin. I found Trey to be enthusiastic, proud, passionate and ready to talk at length on any topic...and so we did! Episode #29 - Next Generation Jam
The 5th annual Next Generation Jam was held yesterday (April 7th) at The Wheel Mill in Pittsburgh and it was awesome. Over 200 kids under the age of 16 showed up to compete for fun in a no pressure atmosphere as created by the Next Generation Jam volunteers and The Wheel Mill. The amount of donations from the BMX industry and well as local businesses made for a win win situation for any Next Generation rider that participated in any way. Not one kid went home empty handed! I was fortunate to be a sponsor of the event by supplying the award plates for each event (as designed by TJL Photo) and decided to interview boys and girls through the day to get their opinion on the jam. You will also hear from a Wheel Mill local, Jonathan Starks (a paraplegic wheelchair and motorcycle stuntman) as well as event organizer Mike Halahan. Congratulations to everyone who participated and helped make the event happen! Watch for pictures on the Next Generation Jam Instagram as they become available.

Episode #28 - Tom Dugan
Sometimes you meet people in BMX that are so crazy on the bike and off that you can only assume how the conversation is going to go and just hold on tight. As Gary Young said, Tom (or Tommy as the girls say) is a free spirit. He ended up being so awesome to talk to. As it usually goes, the guest figures that 30-45 minutes is the limit for what they have to talk that may be interesting. I've never had that problem with this podcast and Tom was a believer when two hours flew by. It was super cool to have Gary Young surprise us by joining in as well! Anyway, Tom is a solid guy with amazing skills and no fear. So good to watch! Look for Tom on June 9th when the XGames Real BMX show airs on ABC. It is produced by Stew Johnson and judged by podcast guests Scotty Cranmer and Trey Jones (coming up next) while hosted by another past podcast guest, Chris Doyle! Pretty cool, can't wait! Listen in as Gary tells stories about everything from word traveling to his humble beginnings in San Diego. Definitely one of the nicest pros you could meet. I was very fortunate to have Chris Doyle, a good friend of Gary's, available to sit in on this one and add to the experience for the listener. I believe even Chris learned a thing or two about Gary! The three of us also talked about the role being parents have in our lives as we each enjoy this role. It's not too often you talk to a total freestyle badass that is incredibly motivated to give back to the BMX community. Brian Kachinsky is just that person. He and Van Homan have created a three stop amateur BMX freestyle series that started in Maryland, continued in Pittsburgh at The Wheel Mill (where this interview took place) and will wrap up at the Four Seasons park in Milwaukee on March 24th. Please take tips from Brian in this interview and give back to BMX in any way you can. Doesn't mean you have to put on an event, just create an atmosphere that promotes the sport. So thank you Brian along with Van Homan for doing such great work while continuing to ride like the pros they are. Episode #23 - Robbie Morales - Cult BMX
Ok, I'm a little biased but for good reason. Robbie "Robo" Morales is the real deal. Has he been perfect? Admittedly, no. Who really is? Robbie openly talks about exactly this in the interview. What Robbie has been is an accomplished trail rider, racer, street rider, marketer, company owner and dedicated sponsor to his riders over the years. Having grown up around Robbie I have seen the sincere, the passionate, the obnoxious, the skilled, the fun loving...the everything that makes Robbie who he is today. Everyone learns as they go and Robbie has learned more than most of us in BMX, sometimes the hard way. Bottom line, I want people to get to know the Robbie I know. A mature man that owns everything he has done, perfect and not. I loved taking this interview on and digging into the mind of a passionate BMX lifer that has much left to give. I hope you feel the same by the end of the listen. Find Robbie at @cultcrew on IG or through the www.cultcrew.com And please, the next time you see Robbie or contact him on social media...thank him and tell him what an integral part of BMX he has been. We couldn't and can't do this without people like him!
Episode #22 - Ronnie Bonner
Ronnie Bonner is the man. With over 30 years in the BMX industry as an owner, designer, manufacturer, event promotor and likely the best laugh in BMX...you will love this episode. I left this interview feeling like family, just the way you should when you connect with a friend as passionate about the sport as you are. If you don't feel the need to give back to the sport after listening, listen again...and again! Thank you all for the support of the show and as always, support those that support the sport of BMX. www.subrosabrand.com www.sparkysdistribution.com www.theshadowconspiracy.com
Episode #21 - Mullaly Bike Park
This is the history of the Mullaly Bike Park as told by the core caretakers and mentors of this historic non-profit park located on the side of Yankee Stadium. Listen in as the guys talk about the 30 years of history that all began with the Rad Dogs and just a couple ramps on an old ice skating rink back in 1988. Everything from King of NY contests to wrestling matches took place here along with a ton of music shows, one of the biggest being Sick Of It All during one of the contests near the beginning of Mullaly's storied history. Over 4,000 people showed for the event! Plug the kid's ears or educate them with the true Bronx story telling style that doesn't hold back. Please consider donating to the park on their Go Fund Me page, just search for BMX In The Bronx and donate whatever you can and make a difference in the life of the youth in one of the toughest boroughs around. You can also find Mullaly at: www.mullalybikepark.org
Episode #20 - Chris Doyle - Multi Talented BMX Pro
Chris Doyle, the consummate professional with the friendliness of an old friend. I have to admit, this one intimated me a bit because Chris is so well spoken and experienced...and I'm not! Ultimately, Chris's demeanor made the interview flow so well. Chris has an amazing memory and articulated his experiences so well. I'm positive you will all love this one. As always, support the companies that support our BMX riders such as these that sponsor Chris Doyle. Episode #19 - The Halahan Shredders
The Halahan boys...if you don't know them, get to. Not only are they shredders on in the BMX world but they skate, build amazing trails, have outdoor skills, deeply respect BMX history and are incredibly supportive of each right down to their 5 year old sister. On top of that they have amazing parents that get it, really get it. In this interview I really got to appreciate what it's like to be a kid again and so will you. The youthful enthusiasm, the sense of humor, the appreciation of the little things...all qualities we want in the next generation and they have it. Big thanks to Jen and Mike Halahan for trusting me to interview the boys and being so welcoming in their home.
