Show overview

The Blue Zone has been publishing since 2016, and across the 5 years since has built a catalogue of 37 episodes, alongside 2 trailers or bonus episodes. That works out to roughly 55 hours of audio in total. Releases follow a roughly quarterly cadence.

Episodes typically run over ninety minutes — most land between 1h 21m and 1h 41m — and the run-time is fairly consistent across the catalogue. None of the episodes are flagged explicit by the publisher. It is catalogued as a EN-GB-language Games & Hobbies show.

The catalogue appears to be on hiatus or wound down — the most recent episode landed 4.4 years ago, with no new episodes in over a year. The busiest year was 2017, with 33 episodes published. Published by RadioSEGA.

E33 - Sonic Mania (3rd December 2017)

In a curveball that no-one expected, SEGA decided to take Sonic back to his roots by making a 2D sprite based platformer. After the many disappointing cashgrabs intended to reinvigorate nostalgia, SEGA turned to Christian Whitehead, PagodaWest Games and Headcannon to put things right. Whether you love the game or loathe it, there's something that everyone can admire about the rags to riches nature of how this game came to be, and that's what this episode of The Blue Zone is here to capture!

E32 - Sonic Runners (19th November 2017)

Sonic Runners holds the record not in the 100m Sprint, but instead for being one of the only major SEGA titles to have gone missing in action. Sonic Runners lives on through podcasts like this, but was it a good game? That's for you to decide but only after running headon into that download button!

E31 - Sonic Lost World (12th November 2017)

Sonic Lost World was an incredibly divisive game in the Sonic franchise. It was unlike anything ever done before, but that doesn't mean bad! Find out what PT has to say about the game and catch up on the show's usual landmarks in this parkour filled episode of The Blue Zone.

E29 - Sonic 4 Episode 2 (15th October 2017)

Hey, it's an improvement right?! Sonic 4 Episode 2 was the unwanted sequel to the unwanted sequel upon release, which sounds like a recipe for success if you ask me. More important than all of this though (according to Discord) is the one question you should always stop and ask: "Did Sky Fortress Act 2 make the cut?"

E30 - Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed (22nd October 2017)

Although it went down well with SEGA fans and its dedicated fanbase, Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing wasn't quite as earth shattering as SEGA had hoped it would be. Instead of hiring a different studio, SEGA placed their full faith once again in Sumo Digital to produce the goods as they had time and time again, resulting in Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed, often considered to be one of the most skillful kart racers in existance. More important than that is what does PT and our Discord server think?!

E28 - Sonic Generations (1st October 2017)

Sonic turned 20 in June 2011, and SEGA weren't going to let their star franchise have a sour birthday yet again. Sonic Generations is everything that 06 isn't, and that's a positive. Join PT in celebrating the most celebratory game in the series to date!

E27 - Sonic Colours (24th September 2017)

No matter how you spell it, Sonic Colo(u)rs was considered at the time to be Sonic's return to form, a game to smash through the shovelware of the recent years, but does that stance still hold up? Is it overrated? Do you guys even still like the soundtrack? Find out what PT and the RS community have to say in this episode!

E26 - Sonic 4 Episode 1 (3rd September 2017)

You asked for this, just remember that. You requested the sound of dying cats, you absolute monster. Due to fan demand, SEGA decided 15 years after the last numbered entry that suddenly a Sonic 4 needed to exist, and we politely asked them to turn back that decision upon booting into Splash Hill. Download this episode of The Blue Zone to experience one of the most hated Sonic games of recent memory... Even in comparison to that one.
