Show Notes

Loneliness is a subjective, unwelcome feeling of lack or loss of companionship. It happens when we have a mismatch between the quantity and quality of social relationships we have and those we want.

Black women suffer disproportionately from loneliness compared to non-minorities because we are bombarded with the pressure from others to value our strength over the need for self-care to preserve our social, economic, and/or professional status.

If we are expected to be strong 24/7 as Black women, when do we have time to be vulnerable? And who can we be vulnerable around? When you consider this, it’s no wonder why Black women suffer disproportionately from loneliness.

In this episode, I want to address this topic of the isolation of achievement so that we can begin to  understand and overcome loneliness as high-achieving black women.
