Sam and Will discuss the Shema found in Deuteronomy 6 -- the source of the Lord's "greatest commandment." They outline the entire book of Deuteronomy as a legal commentary on the Ten Commandments. As Moses presents the younger generation with an appeal to love God and His Law, the people will be forced to choose life or death. In Christ, the same choice is presented to us.

Sam and Will discuss several of the major stories of Moses and the Israelites in the wilderness. Plagued by incessant grumbling, the Lord chastens the Israelites, and Moses eventually rebels against the Lord. What can we learn from these stories? In all likelihood, they were recreating the despicable worship practices of the Egyptians and attributing these drunken perversions to Yahweh's character. How will God and Moses respond?

Sam and Will discuss the three types of Old Testament Laws: (1) the moral law, (2) the civil law, and (3) the ceremonial law. How does the gospel of Jesus change our relationship to these laws? Sam and Will discuss the evolution of Dr. Richard Dawkins. Ever since publishing The God Delusion in 2006, Dawkins has served as a leader of the "new atheists" movement. For years, he expressed a vitriolic and condescending contempt for both God and religion. Now, in light of the advances of both Islam and the "cult of woke," he expresses real sadness over the loss of cultural Christianity in the West.

Sam and Will wrap up their series on the Ten Commandments with a discussion about the 10th Commandment and God's prohibition of coveting. Beyond that, Sam and Will talk about how Jesus redeems us from all of our failures to keep the commandments.

Sam and Will discuss the 9th Commandment and the importance of truth in this world. This commandment goes FAR BEYOND distinctions of true and false. The Bible teaches that the world and its design are sourced by the truth of God. He speaks, and His truth is infused into the design of our world. In Christ, we find the truth, the logos, and the life.

In today's episode, Sam and Will discuss the 8th commandment. The commandment forbidding stealing seems simple enough, but the Bible paints a rather nuanced and beautiful view of a believer's responsibility when it comes to our wealth and possessions. In the end, all of it belongs to God, and we are merely stewards of our lives and possessions.

Sam and Will discuss the seventh commandment -- God's prohibition on adultery. Like the others, this commandment is not just a prohibition on behavior; it is a call to a more beautiful life according to God's design.

The third commandment involves FAR more than just our words.

In short, nothing good. In His kindness, the Lord provides a roadmap for how He has designed the moral fabric of our universe.

Sam and Will discuss the Israelites' experience on Mount Sinai as God prepares to deliver the Ten Commandments and the Law. Why would God lead them to a desolate location and then provide a litany of terrifying sensory experiences? The Lord obviously wanted the people to respect His holiness, but why would a loving God want His people to fear Him? Is it possible that this was also driven by His grace?

Sam and Will discuss the kindness of God in sending Jethro, Moses' father-in-law, as a priest of Midian to relate to the burdens of leadership. Jethro will teach Moses that he cannot bear the burdens of leadership on his own, and he gives him a blueprint for leadership over the Israelites. Sam and Will also discuss the importance of sacrificial relationships in building our lives and our faith.

Sam and Will walk through Exodus 17 and discuss the grumbling of the Israelites. In this chapter, we find two events that anticipate the gospel of Jesus Christ. The Lord brings forth water from a rock, and then He shows the Israelites that they can find victory in battle when their champion Moses stretches out his hands atop a hill.

Sam and Will discuss the stunning faithfulness of God in leading the Israelites into the barren Sinai wilderness. As the Israelites grumble, the Lord does not respond with punitive wrath or abandonment. He feeds them and requires them to rest. In the Gospels, Jesus will tell the crowds that HE is the true bread from heaven. What can we learn from this miraculous display?

Sam and Will discuss the miraculous display of God's faithfulness in the wilderness. After three days of walking through desert terrain, the Israelites are nearing death. When they finally come upon a lake of water, they are devastated to find that the waters of bitter. How does God bring life to the dying? How does He transform the bitterness into sweetness? The words of Isaiah 9:6 ("For unto us a child is born") are found on lots of Christmas cards and greetings, but the story behind Isaiah's good news is truly incredible.
