In Numbers 6 This chapter has two things Rules about nazarites The priestly blessing for Israel
Firstly Nazirites
A Nazirite is not the same as a Nazarene, which is a person from Nazareth. Nazir is a hebrew word that suggests consecrated or separated.
Only three lifetime Nazarites are listed in the Bible being Sampson, Samuel and John the Baptist. All three of them had special circumstances where their mothers could not have children and the children were dedicated to God at birth. And in Acts 24, Paul paid for a few men who were finishing off their Nazirite vows, this was to demonstrate he was not an enemy of the Law of Moses. As believers we are all supposed to be consecrated to God. This is not about our hair or not touching dead bodies, but rather about keeping our hearts clean before him.
Secondly, The Priestly Blessing
The oldest piece of scripture found…. The aaronic blessing. God has always blessed his people…. But we have often turned our backs on his blessing. Sometimes problems have brought us back to him. The last year the world has been terribly shaken by COVID, many have died, but at the same time, these words have inspired many people and strengthened many hearts.
