Show Notes

In this video listen to Leviticus 25 read by David Alley, followed by comments and prayer.

In Leviticus 25 we find the sabbath year concept, that land was to be given a break every seven years and not planted. This sounds great in theory, but in practice how would this work, and how would the owner feed themselves?

David answers this question here using both scripture and also with the practical things that Jews actually do today who follow this law. Historically though the Israelites didn't properly follow this law and the land didn’t have its sabbaths.

During the Babylonian exile, the tribe of Judah was exiled for 70 years (see JEremiah 29:10 and Daniel 9:1-2) to make up for the 490 years that the sabbath year was missed. Then Jubilee is also considered.

This is a celebration each 50th year, a release of debt, return of property and freedom for slaves. This video explains how Christ is our jubilee today.
