In this video listen to Job 19 read by David Alley, followed by comments and prayer.
In Job 19 Job replies to Bildad’s second speech - the eleventh speech in the book and sixth speech of Job.
He says to his friends “How long will you torment me, and crush me with your cruel words?” It is a very telling question. The answer is of course for another round of speeches after this. They will have one more attempt each.
In verse 17 we get the only other mention of Job’s wife, who we find out loathes him.She doesn’t represent many of the godly women we know from elsewhere in scripture.
Also in verse 24 is a most interesting reference to writing with a steel pen on lead. A recent archaeological discovery at Mt Ebal is of this exact thing.
