In Isaiah 40 we enter into what is sometimes called “third Isaiah” but is in reality the same Isaiah but it's now into the “new testament” section of the book if you will. HEre we meet John the Baptist as prophesied seven hundred years earlier, and Isaiah 40:3 is quoted by all four of the gospel writers.
