In this video listen to 2 Kings Chapter 5, read by David Alley, followed by comments and prayer.
In 2 Kings Chapter 5 we have a strange miracle of Elisha…. For a Gentile, Naaman. A number of miracles of Elisha are in the Galilee/Samaria part of the world, despised by Jews in the time of Jesus, but this next miracle is a full blown act of mercy offered to an idolatrous gentile.
Jesus referred to it in Luke 4:27, during his sermon at Capernaum, for which he was almost killed. Why did the Lord extend grace to foreigners back then and not to “locals?” It often had less to do with how much someone knows, and more to do with the state of the heart.
This video discusses the military victory of Naaman - which was given by God. And the slave girl he had who is not bitter at her slavery. And what about how clean the rivers are in Syria… we will consider that too? And why did Naaman have to dip… a symbol of baptism…. in the Jordan…. The same place that Jesus was baptised.
