In this video listen to 2 Kings Chapter 20, read by David Alley, followed by comments and prayer.
In 2 Kings Chapter 20 Hezekiah knows he is dying and goes to prayer. As we have learned from other places in the Bible, you can challenge the Lord, and he even likes it. Not challenged by disobedience as some do, but a challenge by taking him on with fasting and prayer and surrender - the things he loves. It's a wrestling with God as Jacob did. So Hezekiah goes to wrestle with God.
This is what is called supplication - a deep and earnest petition of God. How few people knew the length of their days - Hezekiah did, and the Lord did. Does it make a difference as to how you spend them? Not necessarily as all people know their days are numbered but many are not wise in accounting for them.
In this chapter we also have the combination of medicine and healing working together. The Lord uses both… as is evidenced here, and in Acts and in the presence of the church on earth who started hospitals. Both are great miracles. Finally we cover the amazing miracle of time going backwards in this chapter. How does that work? How can God do such a thing?
