In this video listen to 2 Kings Chapter 21, read by David Alley, followed by comments and prayer.

In 2 Kings Chapter 21 Manasseh is the 14th monarch and the 13th king of Judah. Despite having a wonderful name - one of the twelve tribes of Israel - he is a terrible king. Manasseh was worse than the Amorites… worse than “all the nations’ before.

He filled Jerusalem with blood… one phrase that speaks volumes. Jewish tradition tells us that he sawed the prophet Isaiah in half. This is something alluded to in Hebrews 11:37 - they were stoned, they were sawed in two….

The Chronicler (book of Chronicles) says that Manasseh repented in his last days. It mentions his punishment, his repentance and his restoration by the Lord in 2 Chronicles 33:11-13. Elsewhere we have the prayer of Manasseh included in some old versions of the Bible, but not believed by most scholars to be a true part of the Bible.

It this video we read and comment on a section of the repentance prayer of Manasseh which used to be considered a part of scripture but was removed in the reformation.
