In this video listen to 2 Chronicles Chapter 11, read by David Alley, followed by comments and prayer.
In 2 Chronicles 11 we find out why Jews come from all the tribes, not just the tribe of Judah. The northern nation of Israel had decided to replace temple worship with golden calf worship to try to keep people from going to Jerusalem. It was a political decision, but got not only the Lord angry, but the Levites here deserted en mass, plus others. So from this point on the “Jews'' are actually people from a number of tribes, not just those from Judah.
This might be why today we think of Jews as being everyone descended from Abraham. Some of the Levites actually moved to Jerusalem and Judah, but others moved their hearts but remained in the place they were. They were in very much the type of position most of us are in today, where politically we are under the jurisdiction of whatever nation and state, but our hearts belong to the Lord.
