In 1 Chronicles 20 we have the shortest chapter in the book, only 8 verses - but there are many shorter chapters than this, especially in the Psalms. It is during this chapter, but never mentioned by the Chronicler, that the Bathsheba/Uriah incident happens. Instead an account of victory is recorded. This is the truth for all who are in Christ Jesus - our sins are removed and all we have left is victory in Jesus.
We know that back in 1 Samuel 17, a young David killed the giant Goliath, but now we have here the records of other giants being killed by his followers. This is spiritual inheritance at work. The heart of David, his courage and his example and now being replicated in those after him. Ultimately Christ is the giant killer - the one who killed Satan at the cross, but now we must take on, and will overcome giants too, following his example.
One particularly notable giant that has been trampled is Communism in Eastern Europe, which was prayed away by the saints. It was a drawn out battle over several decades, and significant believers like Brother Andrew encouraged people to engage the battle everywhere he went. But what a great victory!! There are more giants waiting to fall.
