Ep 230Begotten (1990) with Chris from Mount Molehill

E

Original Release Date: January 4, 2021 (very first patreon episode, only fitting it be the final one too) Original Patreon Description: Hello Patrons! I didn't want y'all to miss out on the excitement of "return from hiatus monday", a holiday that definitely exists and I didn't just make up! To that end, here is the first HIGHLIGHT EPISODE, where we're looking at a movie that I found interesting but maybe wouldn't call it the best. This inaugural episode is about E. Elias Merhige's Begotten from 1990, an experimental horror film that is truly wild. I'm including a link to check it out on youtube (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nUy9EzonmH0), but I recommend listening to the episode first to see if it sounds like your thing. I don't think in this particular instance anything is lost by hearing about it first, and there's a lot of stuff that might be off-putting or upsetting, so viewer beware! Hope you enjoy the episode, let me know if you'd like more stuff like this, and thanks to Chris from Channel83 for joining me!

Ep 192Constantine (2005) with Mike Regan

E

Merry Christmas!! Hey, can you pick me and Reegs up from the airport? We just flew in from HELLAX and boy are our arms tired. Luckily the in-flight entertainment was this week's best horror movie ever made, Constantine (2005)! We're keeping things on theme for Plutember 3: All Georgie Picks: Week 2: With Reegs, talking about a psychic detective, bespoke leather accessories, character names like "doubleface" and our write-in campaign for the WHAP boys to get involved in Constantine 2! #WHAPBoysGetInvolvedInConstantine2. hmm... maybe that hashtag could still use a little work. PS: the final episode of Plutember will be the bonus episode of the month, JP and I discussing George Romero's The Amusement Park, only behind the dreaded paywall!!!! Sign up now so you don't miss out on this and many more great bonus episodes. Production note: While editing this episode it felt noticeable to me that I was a little scattered. Sadly my "producer" and dear friend Stevie the cat has passed away, and this was recorded a few days before that happened. I was trying to just keep things on schedule since there wasn't much I could do but her illness was definitely on my mind, so I apologize for any moments that seem a little distracted.

Ep 191Silent Night, Deadly Night (1984) With We Heard About Pluto

E

Did you do your best this year? Too late now... 'cause Santa's here. This week: a very special Plutember begins! It's all George picks, all month long, and first up - the gang's all here for Silent Night, Deadly Night (1984)! This is one of my favorites, a seasonal classic and a perfect exploitation movie in my opinion. It's a genuinely compelling movie, and I forgot to talk about it in the episode but I think its kind of a bummer how much of the conversation Silent Night, Deadly Night 2 takes up. Sure "Garbage Day!" is funny and there's some goofy eyebrow acting in the back half but the "highlight reel" style of the first half completely destroys the pacing of this movie, which is what makes it so unique! The slow unfolding of the story is so integral to it. All this to say, Silent Night, Deadly Night is the best horror movie ever made, so listen to Reegs, JP and I break down exactly why that is! PLUS: Constantine as the last main feed episode of the year, and George Romero's The Amusement Park as the December patreon spotlight! Really great stuff that I'm excited to talk about. PLUS PLUS: the livestream schedule is shaping up! Our trivia tournament is set, and our planned live commentaries guests include the Drop King Robert Persinger and the Spoonman himself, Mike Mitchell! Further details here! ----more----PLUS PLUS PLUS: Check out the BLHHiP Patreon to get early access to episodes, bonus episodes, discord access and more! E

Cold beer, hot day... the perfect environment to break down David Robert Mitchell's Under the Silver Lake with Hayes Davenport from The Flagrant Ones and Hollywood Handbook! We're talking Nepo Babies, the code buried under the surface, cheering on the Fightin' Barristers and trying to figure out just what the heck is so broken in us that we became podcasters anyway?! Don't miss this ep! NOTE FROM GEORGE: In addition to the causes of homelessness that already existed, COVID forced many people onto the street and has put an incredible strain on the already underfunded resources. With this in mind, and with respect to both the art we're discussing here and the work Hayes is doing, I've set up a recurring donation to Bethesda Project. This is an organization here in Philadelphia helping people get back on their feet, and I encourage you all to donate as well, or find a similar cause near you to support - it's a hard world out there, and plenty of people are fighting to make it harder. ----more---- PLUS: Check out the BLHHiP Patreon to get early access to episodes, bonus episodes, discord access and more!
